6 month ago I timed myself how long it would take to do my wax package on a Highlander. It took 1 hour and 45mins...



Well, today I timed myself on a four door explorer. 1 hour and 15mins :D



The times are from the time I started taking stuff out of my truck to the time everything had been packed up and the back was closed. I don't count the time I talk to the customer.



Here is what I did:

Interior:

Vac

Wipe down Vinyl with damp rag (remove dust)

Dress Vinyl

Clean Windows



Exterior:

Clean Tires/wheels

Hand Wash/dry

Dress Tires and exterior trim

Wax with my speed wax (Pro's Fast Trak and Pro's Satin Creme)

After waxing I dust vehicle off with a clean towel and clean the outside of the windows.
 
WOW !! All that in 1 hour and 15 min. That's moving pretty well.



You must be eating your Wheaties in the a.m.:D



It usually take's me that long to try to decide on what product's to use on my own truck.

Hey Intel!



1 hour and 15 minutes for all that ???!!!!! Wow!!! How can you do that so fast?? Your arms must be going 90 mph!!! :D
 
I just must ask what the hurry is. Detailing is all about detail. I am not putting you down, but I would never brag how fast I could do a job evem if I could do it in 1/2 the time. Especially when you have customers who think the only car you do all day is theirs.

What Sam said! :eek: It's not crack, it's SPEED! I can't even fathom doing even a crappy version of all that work in 1.25 hours. :bow
 
I can't even get through vacuuming my compact car in 1 hour and 15 minutes, much less 1 hour and 45 minutes. That is impressive!
 
I actually think Scottwax would be able to beat me most of the time.



This was cool today though so in the summer time if i try it again I'll probably be back to 1hour and 45mins b/c it is so hot and humid.



Basically it is organization that makes it go fast. I know where stuff in my truck is, I bring everything to the vehicle in on step don't have to run back for window cleaner, don't have to run back for dressing, etc. I got it all in a bucket.

Why wouldn't I want to go fast when I'm not sacrificing quaility? I don't cut corners, I was simply moving fast and would always know what I'm about to do next.



I don't think I have any customers who think their car is the only car I do in a day...
 
Hey Intel- I know what you mean about some cars are in the right shape that you can finish them quickly. I had a Lincoln Town Car limo to detail today. I wash it every 2 weeks and then go over it with Quikshine, so with QEW, it beads up and comes clean quickly. It was about 60 with low humidity, so washing and drying went quick and it has a fabric top that I usually just wipe down with a damp mf towel. I polished it with Vanilla Moose and waxed with Moose Wax, vacuumed it, cleaned with windows inside and out and dressed the tires. Took me just over 2 hours, start to finish. It turned out great and since it was already in good condition, it didn't require any localized polish to remove scratches, etc.



Best of all, it was so slick when I finished, I had a hard time putting the car cover back on because it kept sliding off the front end!



BTW, should have pics of it late this week or early next week. I've got 6 shots left on my current roll of film.

I agree. If you can do it that fast, why not. It's not like he was pullin' a concourse detail here. If i saw somebody do a good job on my car in that amount of time, it would tell me that he knows what the hell he was doing - maybe i should pay him for a full detail and then see what he can really do. Also, i'd rather see somebody working his a** off then taking all day. Keep up the good work:xyxthumbs

Yhea, this car was in good condition so that was one reason it went fast.



The owner also had plastic floor mats so I carefully pulled them out and that took out like 90% of the dirt, etc. I shook them off and quickly wiped them down with a damp rag. I could then quickly vac the mats and carpets to get the little amount of dirt that was left. It wasn't like some of the dog hair covered, haven't been cleaned out for 6 month vehicles that take you 20mins just to vac out.
 
Also, it would have been faster if you use a really easy to remove wax like Cherry Wet Wax.



The stuff I use I have to make sure the towel is clean and make several passed to get everything off. It also creates dust so I have to go over the whole vehicle again quickly with a dry towel to dust it off.

How is it that you mix fast trak with satin creme? Is it that much faster? I have a bottle of satin creme although I have yet to use.
