New PC Questions and VM on glass

My PC and LC VC pad kit came in yesterday. I expect my products to show up today, SSR 1, 2 ,2.5, VM, and Natty's paste( not blue).

I get the impression that the PC is easy enough to use that I don't need to practice before I use it ( assuming that I don't do something stupid like use a cutting pad and compound). The weather is supposed to be nice in Maine saturday. I'd like to detail my wife's car. I do have an old Nissan pickup that I can practice on. Should I play with the PC on the pickup before taking it to a 'real' car?

My wife's car has some scratches of various types. I know some of them will take the SSR 2.5 to clear up. Most of the finish has swirl marks that when you shine a light on it you can see. I was thinking of doing my first pass on the car to try and polish out the swirls and do the heavier scratches later. I'm wondering if I should do the whole car with SSR 2 followed by SSR 1, or do the whole car with SSR 1 and bump it up to SSR 2 if needed.

I did clay and ScratchX by hand to this car 6 weeks ago. So I think I got most of the surface oxidation etc off.

Should I reclay the car? I know you don't want to do it too much. I ask because the car is 4 years old and I may not have removed everything that the clay could get off. It was the first time using the stuff.

Do I apply the VM with PC or by hand? I know about RMG and Pink Moose but the RMG was out of stock.

Lastly, I've read about using VM on glass. Does this include the windshield and how do you apply it?

edited to clarify a question better

I would not recommend VM on the windshield, VM leaves wiper smear on those dark rainy nights.

When you say heavier scratches can you place your finger nail and feel a grove? If so you can’t remove the scratch/s but you can lesson the edge of the scratch up by polishing and with a heavy duty glaze to make it less visible, RMG is a light glaze.

You can run your PC at any speed you want to even with a cutting pad. I run mine at 6 then back to 5.5 .

You would want to polish your car when it’s nice and clean same goes while claying. Claying again won’t hurt it only thing that hurts the paint while claying is if you pick something up while claying, you want to knead the clay often. The whole ideal of claying is to pick up embedded contamination on the paint Don’t drop the clay on the ground if you do throw it away.
