If you could give me a product that is easy on easy off like Zaino, with a shine and prep product like Blackfire, and durability like Klasse and Zaino.....well that would be the perfect product. [/b]</blockquote>
Try out the new glossier and slicker version of Z2 that is recently shipping......I think you might have found your product!

How do I tell if I have the new version of Z2 or the old version? And how different is the shine etc? I haven't heard of this before.....

I just got my car painted and wonder how long I have to wait until I can clay, polish and seal? I'm a newbie and I just started using BFWD products on my other cars. Thanks!

Congratulations on your new paint job !

What did the Body Shop tell you regarding the drying time of the paintwork ?

Was it a complete paint job ?

Ask the painter at the shop how long to wait. I had a quarter panel painted and was told to wait 45 days before applying a wax. The body shop actually had a brochure from the paint manufacturer listing the 45 day waiting period. I've heard anywhere from 30 to 90 days depending on the paint.

Thanks for the inputs. Painter said 30 days like you recommend. I thought it seemed a little soon, because I was thinking 6 months but I had no real idea how long to wait. Painter was correct. Thanks again.

Go easy with your clay and go with a mild claybar if you can .

Ive had new paint even though its cured get marred up by clay where as the rest of the factory painted areas did not get affected at all by the claybar.

Had this happen a few times now!

That *may* not have had anything to do with whether or not the paint had fully cured. Could just be that the shop applied a softer clear than the manufacturer.

My suggestion would be that if the shop baked the paint job afterwards, 30 days should be fine. If they didn't bake it, I'd wait 60 to 90.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that you really don't know how good the paint job was until about 6 months later. The paint tends to "tighten" up over the first few months, and sanding marks in the prep work that didn't show up initially, may then appear.

It has been verified that Optimum Car Wax can be safely applied almost immediately after refinishing whether baked or not. I'm also under the impression that Opti-Coat can too. Great stuff btw...

Yet another reason more Optimum products are making their way to my supply shelf.

Had some work done to son's truck about a month ago. Body shop said took 90 days for paint to cure. And that they used some kind of "polyurethane" by DuPont and it really never needed waxing - just use some 'quick detailer' every now and then. I don't believe this, but do intend to wait a few months before hitting it with my BFWD

I was told the same thing when I had one of my cars painted back in 96'-97'. Polyurethane, Dupont, blah, blah, blah. He also said I just needed a glaze every now and then. Don't believe it.Stop
