NEW Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

My mistake. I just looked at the tirerack review for the goodyears and it was the goodyear RS-A that was pretty low. The F1 GS-D3s are just a touch below the PS2

I put them on my 2004 Cobra a few months ago and I am real happy with the choice. I dont drive my Cobra in the wet so I did not care about the rain specs. the PS2's have the best dry handling specs in their class and thats why I chose them over the GS-D3's. these PS2's make my Cobra feel like a different car compared to the factory Goodyears. Better handling, less road noise and overall a better looking tire than the Goodyears. nothing but praise for these Michelin

PS2's.

New tread and compound makes these the best high performance tires for street!

Waiting to see if I can request the four on my new 06 997 Carrera S Coupe scheduled for February production, delivery April or May.

I'll take the PS/2's over the Goodyears! Sure Goodyears work well in wet, but are somewhat noisy in dry.

The PS/2's have two compounds, and can wear faster I've heard. But to have the best street tires there is a prcie.

If I remember right, that test was evaluating the performance in wet conditions. If you go to TireRack's evaluations for dry performance, the PS2s rank #1 and the Goodyears were down pretty low.

No, I just reread it and they were testing the overall performance of the tires.

The scoring went like this=(max score)

Dry performance(x2) ..........600

Wet performance ................300

Price..................................100

Treadwear..........................100

--------------------------------------

Total possible...................1100

The Goodyears got 1050.4 points, while the Michelins got 1018.7.

For dry performance, the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07s actually did better than either of the aforementioned tires. They had best dry braking, second best dry autocross time, second best dry skidpad time, and the overall BEST dry performance score!

In the new Car and Driver, they tested a lot of UHP tires,

and the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 came in first!

Second came ContiSportContact 2, and the Michelin PS2s rang in at fourth!

Just FYI...and something to think about if you're comparing prices...:)

I can attest to the F1s being fantastic tires. Last summer I got four from TTRack and have never experienced anything so dramatically improved from my "no-seasons." I put them on some AMG wheels and also bought four Michelin X-Ice for winter driving. Could not possibly be happier. I've heard great things about PS2 too, but when I talked to Luke at TTRack he talked me into the F1s--even though I wanted the PS2s, and he could have made a lot more $$$ from selling me the PS2s. (Specificallyk I run 245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL, front, and 275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, back.)

We had a surprise snow storm last week (9.5" overnight) and I still had the F1s on. Wow was that a bad situation. It was like driving/steering a two-ton toboggan. Scared the hell out of me. Have the X-Ice on now and it drives like a tank in snow and on ice.

Here are the F1s:

I love my Pilot Sports on my 18"s right now and I can't imagine anything better. Too bad it'll take me 3 years before I need to replace them.

Alhough at $166 they're not too bad. When I looked at the regular Pilot Sports they were $197 each.

I have the Ps2's on my Sl55--- 295x30x19's on the rear and 255x35x19's on the front. I love the tires but the price is a liitle high. I broke a sidewall on one of the front tires hitting a pothole and the replacement cost from the Tire rack with shipping was $342.

While it's obviously a different tire, I had Pilot Sports on my sportbike, and they were amazing. Especially since your total footprint on a sportbike is about the same as the size of your palm!!
