New MF towels pre-wash?

I just got some MF towels that I ordered and I was wondering if I have to wash them in a washing machine or if i could hand wash them? If I use the WM what temperature water would i need to use? I am going to be air drying once they are washed.

I never used to prewash towels, but the last few batches I've gotten I decided to prewash with Microrestore in cold water. It seemed to take care of a lot of the manufacturing fuzz/thread/lint/etc. I throw them in the dryer but use a very very long air dry (no heat) cycle.

Before using any towels for the first time;

• Remove labels / tags

• Check for towel colour fastness before washing

• Wash towels before using to remove chemical sizing (used to plump up fibres)

• Use a liquid detergent (or a speciality product like Micro-Restore high efficiency (HE) washer safe) without softener, bleach, whiteners.

Everybody I've ever talked with in the textile industry has said that if you ever saw the inside of a textile mill you'd never wonder about why people wash "brand new stuff" ;)

I machine dry my MFs (usually use "medium" heat setting) and they come out fluffier than when I tried air-drying. Unless a clothes drier is *VERY* messed up it won't melt/damage MFs.

Ditto for the wash temp. Some MF manufacturers actually recommend *boiling* them, which some people do to remove wax/etc. residue and to rejuvenate WWMFs.
