I became an Autotopia member after I waxed my car and noticed that it still wasn't shiny. My internet search led me to Autotopia. It took 4 days to detail the outside of my gold 1999 Sebring JXi Convertible the first time. It was worth every minute...my car glowed! Thankfully, maintaining that great shine has been much less time consuming. Thanks for the great website.

Welcome to Autopia Teressa! I too, have found this a fantastic place to learn what works and what doesn't. I've purchased several products based the Autopian's recommendations and they were 100% worth it.

I just got home from a road trip but I'll take and post pictures after I get my car cleaned up again.

I used products that I could buy locally. Maguiar's Gel Shampoo, Paint Cleaner, Polish, Scratch X, Gold Class Wax, Natural Shine Vinyl and Rubber Protectant, and Quick Detail Spray. I also used 3M polishing compound and rubbing compound, Magic Clay, Eagle One Tire and Wheel Cleaner, Mother's Back to Black for the weather stripping and Stoner's Invisible Glass. My rear window (glass in the Sebring convertible) was badly etched so I used Mineral Spirits and OOOO steel wool, it worked but it took a long time. I also used Blue Magic Convertible Top Cleaner, and Plexiglass Cleaner and Scratch Remover. I used Scotchguard on the cloth top. I did everything by hand, no buffers or polishers (no wonder it took 4 days).

Russellp23, I doubt there are many female autopians, all my friends think I'm crazy. However, I recently began looking at new cars and my car's trade-in value was increased $1500 after seeing its' condition and the receipts for all maintenance and repairs.

Hey Teressa, don't take these guys' "this thread is worthless without pix" too much to heart. Us detailing nuts are to pix as sharks are to blood. :D

Sounds like you're doing some serious, careful detailing, and I'm delighted you found Autopia.

And there are a few hardcore Autopians who are "girl" detailers. Don't feel lonely! :up Best of all, Autopia doesn't really care if you're a guy or a gal, as long as you're an obsessive-compulsive detailer. :lol
