New Here

Doh! :wall That stinks! When it rains, it pours. It could have been worse. On a different note, it looks like your moldings on your bed are faded. You can pick up a liquid dye from detailking.com and have those puppies looking like new for years. Its a simple process that well worth the 20 dollars for the dye.

That dull spot on the moldings is actually when I applyed the polish to the truck. I accidently over did it and now I can't take that stuff off. I have been using Nu Finish car polish on my truck but I hate the way it stays on my trim and moldings if I over extend my applicator. So I have been trying to find out what else I can use to protect my truck. I will have to get that product from detailing.com. Do you know what it is called?

I try not to wax any trim ever. Future reference blue painters tape works wonders.
Try Alcohol or Mineral Spirits or Dawn soap strips wax...and there's always peanut butter???

I totally agreaa with merlin. Painters tape is always needed especially when your first starting out. Even if you don't get too close, you will probally have the "sling" effect and shoot product all over the place with the buffer. In time, you will get the process down and feel more confortable with it. You can try just detailing spray and a body brush. But I haven't even thought about nufinish since I was like 18. Some good product lines are meguires, griots garage, chemical guys, detailking. All can be purchased easily. A lot of their products are made to be "user friendly" and extremely easy to work with. But its always opinion. You have to try a bunch of product before you find the one that is right for you.

haha. Yeah I guess I am still OLD school. I liked Nu Finish because it says that it lasts all year long, and like I mentioned before, my time is really tight. I had recently read about the painters tape, and it never occurred to me. That is a good idea, and I will be using it in the future. I am glad I came onto this forum. A lot of good ideas you guys giving me. Also like I said before, detailing for me was really just cleaning everything. Not realizing that there is sooo much more to it. Two bucket system to wash vehicle? Never even heard of that until recently. So you can see that I am really old school and have a lot to learn.
Thanks for all your input guys. As soon as I get my truck fixed, I will be back to get all the low down on how I can really get my truck looking nice and well Protected. Protection being my number one concern. I do everything by hand and have never had a buffer or polisher or any machine like that. I guess I might have to save up some money for some of those up-to-date devices.
