hey guys, just signed up on this forum. my name is pete and i'm from texas. i have done auto detailing on my own cars and relatives for awhile, but now i want to get payed for what i do. alot of great info on this forum. i am going to start mobile, i have an 6x8 trailer, 3500 psi pressure washer, 125 gal tank, 4000 watt generator, wet/dry vac, buffing machine, and all chemicals needed. i have all this stuff because i have a couple of accounts washing delivery trucks on the weekend. but i am going to give auto detailing a shot. gotta keep reading on this forum.
 
Welcome to DC Pete! I'm glad you've been finding the forums helpful and I'm sure you will continue to do so. Good luck with your business plans. By the way, there are a lot of threads that have already discussed in length what people who wanted to start their own detailing business planned to do or what they did. If you search for those threads, they would probably answer a few questions you might have.

Glad to have you. We have been doing Mobile for 15 years! It's nice because there's hardly any overhead (not as much as renting/owning a building,etc.) I think it should be a good business for you. [email protected]
 
Welcome to DC! This is the place to be when it comes to detailing. There is a great deal of information to be gained from fellow DC'ers and everyone is willing to share.

Sounds like the only items that you need to add to your new business are the customers :) . Good luck!

i think i have everything i need, except customers, any help? suggestions?
business cards, flyers, cold calling, what works what doesn't in this type of business?

Yes, cards are an absolute must. I picked up 300 at first, and they went fast. Then ordered 1k..and now working on my 2nd 1k.
Cold calling....stay away from.....does not really work, and in this line of business...will be useless
Fliers are good, so is a website.
Word of Mouth is your best Friend
