Hello Autopians! First off, let me start by saying Thank You to all the administrators and members who make this place the wonderful community that it is!! I found this site recently while looking for info on professional level detailing, and wow I'm glad I did. I haven't been able to stay away, been reading non stop!
My name is Chris and I'm 25. I was born and raised in Nashville, TN and just recently bought my new home in Murfreesboro, TN. I work an average 40 hours week right now, but I work Mon-Thurs so I have 3 day weekends. I always have a lot of extra time on my hands so I've decided to find something for me that I can do in my spare time to make extra money.
I'm a HUGE car enthusiast, have been since I was a little boy. I've been working and building cars since I was a 8. I love all automobiles, but honestly I'm just a huge gear head that loves almost anything with a motor. Cars are my passion though. I'm not the type of person who takes things for granted. I've built some really nice cars over the years that I'm very proud of. But mainly, I'm more appreciative of what I've learned from doing this over the years. If anyone here ever has any car problems, and would like some assistance, please feel free to PM and I'll do anything I can to help. Just my way of trying to give back.
I wanted to find a business to get into where I could start slowly, and work from home in my 2 car garage. But also something that I would love to do. I got to thinking.... I've always had very strong work ethic, and I've always been a very detailed oriented person. I also LOVE to see results, thats what keeps me going. Then it hit me!! Detailing! It sounds perfect for me. It allows me to show my work ethic in each job, and see actual results from it. Also, knowing that what I'm doing is making cars look better, last longer, but most importantly making the owner happy with the end results when he/she drives away in a beautifully detailed car. Thats thought is truly rewarding to me, since I'm a huge car nut I know how it feels to drive a clean, good smelling car. After finding autopia and spending that last week here reading non stop I feel even more assured that this is what I want to do.
So, my intentions are to start slow, working only on family/friends cars until I feel confident enough to go out and start getting real customers. At that point, I will acquire my business license, liability insurance, and anything else I need to have a fully legit detailing business. I refuse to operate the business any other way, working illegally to me is a good way to kick the industry in the nuts and I am not cool with that. I respect all the professionals in this field and I know no one has had a easy journey to the top. I hope that one day I will earn the respect from others in the industry.
I apologize for the long post, anybody who knows me, knows that I'm the type of person that will talk your ear off! lol!! Anyways, back to reading, and trying to cram my brain with all of this wonderful knowledge from Autopia!!:xyxthumbs Thanks again!
Cliff Notes: Name is Chris from TN and I love cars, bought a new house and want to make some extra money in my spare time. Starting slow, learning, then plan to open a legit part time detailing business.
