New England Winter product show down: HD Poxy vs. FK’s 1000p

Yes, that's the only type I purchased. I've used it with a few different products. I seem to get good results with it.

I think I'm going to have to call this showdown a draw. There is no clear winner and each product has shown a dramatic decline over the past few weeks. The hood of the car (Poxy) doesn't bead at all, but the roof does. The trunk (FK 1000p) does bead a bit.

The vertical Poxy panels still bead a bit and are slightly slicker compared to any of the 1000p panels. All panels now have bonded contaminants.

We haven't really experienced winter conditions at all this season. We had a total of 10" of snow meaning there has been minimal salt/sand on the roads. The cars have stayed clean for unusually long periods and the products haven't really been challenged. The result may have been different under more normal conditions.

tom p--Did you ever try DG 105? When I lived in NH and was working I drove my A6 30K miles a year in all types of weather between Nashua and Boston and Nashua and Burlington, VT. The last couple of years I was using 2 coats of DG 105 applied in October and it would last easily into April with ONR washes and Aquawax on occasion--when in was warm enough to apply. This year I applied a coat of POXY two months after applying one coat of 105 and was really impressed with the look--although our winter here has also been mild and I don't drive as much, it is still slick and beading like the day I put it on after three months. I also noticed it sheds dirt really well--after a couple of weeks with no wash and a few rain days only the rocker panels seem to be really dirty.

PW, I'm not familiar with DG 105. I typically do 2 coats of the 1000p product and that has offered exceptional results over 6 months regardless of the amount of snow or heat applied. While the 1000p is an outstanding product, the Poxy is quite a bit easier to use, FWIW.

Within the next few weeks I'm going to re-do the car and apply 2X 1000p and just leave it at that. That's a win-win strategy even if it takes a bit longer to apply/remove :)

The 105 is as easy to apply and remove as POXY--thin coats and if you mix it 4 to 1 with DG 601 you can put the second coat on in 2 hours.

tom p.- I'm nodding my head at your "I'll just FK1000P x 2.." conclusion, though the Poxy did last longer than I woulda expected it to.

Poxy doesn't layer in the "results like when you layer FK1000P or KSG" sense of the term, right?

Accumulator, I can't comment on that since I have not tried it. I was told to stick with just a single coat of Poxy.

The Poxy is still displaying a bit of beading on the roof and vertical panels. There really isn't any beading on the hood of the car.

I'm going to have to re-do the car soon. I typically don't let the protection fade to this degree.
