New Engine Bay Cleaning Process....

You're kidding me, right? Apparently I need to remind myself that this forum doesn't talk the same way my others do.

No vette here...don't like 'em at all.

Okay, so what do you drive or wish you could drive?? :nixweiss

Have you ever driven a Corvette??:work:

+1 for the 303 for detailing the engine bay. I use 303 on my manifold heat shield, and it looks like fresh paint!

I've been using a lot of ONR for washing and got to thinking if it's this good on the outside of the car removing dirt and such then why not for the engine bay as well??

On topic: J, I like this idea a lot ... especially if you're dealing with a fairly clean engine bay that only needs a minor "dusting" or what have you.

I suspect there are a lot of undiscovered uses for ONR and the like!

Thanks for suggesting it. :xyxthumbs

Play nice, everyone. This is a warning for every poster that has pushed the envelope in this thread . . . if your ears are burning, I'm talking about you. Next step is a three-day timeout.

Please, keep it civil,

so did you just spray on the rinseless and let it dry then toss the 303 on?

any idea if it will end up being harmful/cause corrosion issues

Nope, never had the pleasure, but I'm sure they're a blast. Vettes just never really wowed me like some others.

If I could drive any car I would be more interested in something like an M5, Aston Martin, Supra TT or Skyline GTR. Nothing against American cars...just never been a fan of this one.

Not questioning the process - clearly it works.

My question is, why not do a degrease/rinse engine cleaning. Does this approach cater to more "dust" cleaning as opposed to "dirt" (grease/grime) cleaning. I'm not too familiar with ONR other than used as a "waterless wash" a la QEW, so I'm just trying to understand what is advantageous about this process (other than the convenience of not having to get out the hose, etc).

Thanks!

Good one. Your grandkids help you out with that?

haaha I thought you might like that one.:spit:

No, I'm 28, but I bought my first Corvette, 2 years old, when I was 25 and it was a great car, had no real issues with it for 55,000 miles, then sold it since I'm getting married next month. It was an black 02 coupe and an absolute pleasure to drive. I have driven a lot of so called sports cars, but the Vette was by far superior in all around performance and comfort, ecspecially for the money you just can't get a better sports car.

We all like our own things, it's all good.:woot:

But you can't knock it till you've tried it first.

No, sprayed the ONR on and the engine bay and on the MF rag and wiped clean.

Then after clean I sprayed the 303 on a MF rag and shined it.

The engines were plenty dirty just not trashed out, so I generously sprayed the parts that can get wet with the ONR, I do not use a water hose or pressure sprayer on engines.

The advantage that I found is it was much faster and did a better job then the other cleaners I've been using.:woot2: Plus if you wash the car with it, you'll have some extra sitting around.

I cleaned my engine bay with ONR not too long ago. It's really a very versatile product. You can wash your car with it, clean wheels/wheel wells/tires, engine bays, and use it as clay lube. Technically, you can also use it as a QD, but IMO there are products that are more effective QDs. ONR just does a great job lifting away dirt.

I may have to give this a try, I have not been too pleased with some other "engine detailing" products I have tried.

Yea, me neither, that's why I'm so happy about this process is that it's simple, effective and quick.

For alot of grease around the heads I would still spray a degreaser to break it up, but then go back over it all with the ONR wipe then the 303 wipe.:2thumbs:

Vette looks good. I have to give that a try since I also work at construction sites selling homes my engine always looks like my sons sand box, thanks for the tips and pics

With the ONR, I say the more dirty it is the more generously you spray the ONR on.
