1999 Mercedes ML 430. I've been taking care of this one since new, used to wash it every week but my customer's remodeling job cost more than he thought, so I see his vehicles quarterly now. Meguiars #80 on the hood, then VM on the whole vehicle (polishing pads for both) and NXT by polishing pad.

2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. First got my hands on this one in the late spring. It's first wax job was EX-P topped with Pinnacle Souveran. He has had me wax it with Souveran 3 more times (about 6 to 8 weeks apart) and the paint just looks deeper and deeper.

2002 Mercedes S600. Another regular customer. I detail the car about 2-3 times a year. His wife drives it and likes to wash it herself, usually using a brush that would normally be used for an RV:( so it was scratch city on the horizontal parts especially. Meguiars #80 with a cutting pad on the hood and trunk lid, then #80 with a polishing pad on the whole car, followed by NXT Tech Wax with a polishing pad.

====================

2000 Ford Excursion. I QEW wash it about 3 times a month, this time after washing, I used Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba with a polishing pad and EX w/carnauba to finish it off.

Now for my car. Spent some serious time on it. Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze with a cutting pad, #9 Swirl Remover with a polishing pad, NXT wax with a polishing pad, Wolfgang Sealant by hand (two layers), Pinnacle Souveran by hand. You now have to really look to find any cobwebbing in the paint but there were a few scratches that wouldn't come out completely, but you now have to look closely to see them.

One of these days, I will really go nut on the interior, but probably after summer winds down since I get all sweaty working this time of year.

Man, you sure know how to treat those black ones. That Cayenne looks mean in black. Actually I only see black ones around, but they look like crap. Beautiful pics as always.

All I can say is...WOW! As usual, all the cars look awesome, all are very wet and reflective. :xyxthumbs

How long does it usually take you to do a detail on an SUV like the ML or the Cayenne?

Any reason for ditching VM on your vehicle?

2 reasons. One, I wanted to try something different and two, I am almost out of VM. My kids wanted to take some back with them to Kentucky and so I bought the last bottle at the shop near me that carries Clearkote products and gave it to them. Now the shop is out and it will be next week before they get more in. I want to save what I have for customers.

all the cars look good just like everyone else said... i am also curious as to how long it took u to do the suvs?

not only excellent work on the cars, but equally great work with the camera.

PS: I had an idea in my head for awhile that would benefit you (payoff for the exceptional work that you do day in and day out) and us here on Autopia who want to learn as much as possible. Should I post my idea here or do you want me to send a private email to you?

If it is a simple QEW wash and 2 step polish and wax on an SUV, it takes me about 2.5 to 3 hours on average. That includes vacuuming, cleaning windows in and out and dressing the tires and fenderwells.

i dont know how u do it... takes me almost half a day :angry

ps... it must have been hard dressing the fenderwells on that s600

:jawdropping:

All very sexy, especially the Cayenne. Any reason they didn't get the Valentine1 Radar Detector? Just curious since you know they have the money.

Back to NXT eh? I'm really impressed with the deep, wet, relfective look it gives, but how long is it lasting for you?

Did you have any trouble dressing the Excursion tires? Or some tires just in general? I feel some tires are soo incredibly dry that you can never get them back to a deep black. What do you think?

Scott, our cars have about the same products on them.

Mine has VM, Ex-P, Blackfire x2, and #16 x2. :p

All cars look awesome. Especially the porsche. Very hot.

I can't believe it... It took me a week (working a couple of hours everyday) to do my car :o

I was actually quite exhausted mentally and physically after working a couple of hours with the car. Working at your pace must be demanding. (Please say "yes" I already have doubts about the shape I'm in...)

I love the Mercedes S-class. It's such a classy car in black

Sean-I haven't had any durability issues with NXT but the slickness does fall off a bit after 3-4 weeks for me. Keeps beading though and is still decently slick when you run a towel over it. One of the reasons I used NXT on the S600 was that I had polished out a lot of scratches with #80 and wanted to follow it with something that would further polish the paint and since NXT has very light cleaners and abrasives, it really works well after #80. No need to use a glaze first.

I hate those tires on the Excursion. The tread along the sides is a real PITA, plus he has probably 40,000 miles on those tires. I've been cleaning that Excursion for more than 2 years and he hasn't changed tires yet....and since it has nearly 140,000 miles on it in 5 years, I think the 40k mileage estimate may be conservative!

Corey-In a month or so, I'll probably end up tearing it all down and trying something else...but the Wolfgang/Souveran combo is hard to beat on black!

olofm-Remember, that is a simple 2 step job. Multiple steps on paint in bad shape would take a lot longer!

Just FYI, I detailed a Chevy Silverado and BMW 525i today and then went out to the park and skated about 12 miles. ;)

scott, i hear you. I haven't taken DACP or anything of he like to my car since october (i have polished with blackfire pre polish, and VM a few months after that).

But I have some scratches i need to take care of.

AWESOME work Scott!!:xyxthumbs :bow :xyxthumbs I'm dying to detail one of those Cayennes. How is the interior?? Like sitting in a 911 on stilts?
