new detail coming soon...my "new" winter ride!

i found my winter beater today...

1992 honda accord lx

5spd

155k miles

bergundy red

the good:

brand new full exhaust, timing belt, water pump (dealer installed)

one owner

dealer didn't know if the clutch was original or not...but feels very solid

full power everything

the bad:

typical rear wheel well rust on both back wheels...but only a few inches of it.

AC is dead (but i don't care since it's primarily a beater/winter ride)

full power everything (more to go wrong, i assume...expensive to fix)

sticker price: $5,999 :chuckle:

original window sticker price: $16,500 (the owner kept all the original paperwork...good sign!)

blue book: $1800-$2800 depending on condition

price paid: $3600 + TTL

actual dealer cost: $3100 total (paying owner trade-in + repair costs)...my friend that works for the parent car dealership company looked it all up and got all the info for me

i guess it's not technically a BEATER...and it'll soon be nice and pretty. :)

the paint is a deep red color and did not appear to have any defects other than the few rust spots...i'll get pics up as soon as i take delivery of it.

welcome to the club, i have 230xxx miles on my 90 accord, AC is also dead and watch out for the driver's power window as its a typical problem for old accords. I think scottwax had the same color as you do

That's funny. After I got my TL, I started using my old Accord I've had since high school as my rainy day car. I refuse to call it a beater since it is still nicer than 99% of the one's still on the road. You couldn't really pick a better daily driver. I have done all the regular maintenance on mine and haven't had a really big problem with it since I bought it in 7 years ago.
