Who needs status when you can blow right by the Jones' Ferrari :chuckle:

Believe it or not many more buy them for status than because they know how to really drive them.

Indeed. Another reason why if I was ever in a position where I could easily afford such vehicles, I probably still wouldn't buy one. I'm not the sort of person who buys cars just as a status symbol, and know people would interpret it as such. Also, the last thing I want are "friends" and "women" who only care because you have the appearance of having money.

In fact, if I ever become significantly wealthy, I'd live just like any other middle-class American. Maybe in a nice neighborhood and such, but I would never show off just what I was worth and certainly would never tell anyone how much money I have/make.

I also decided that if I ever won the lottery ( ), I would keep as my deepest secret and tell no one... money changes many things, oftentimes for the worse. I want me to define me - not my money

Wow, sorry for jacking the thread!

I agree with you on all counts. Also, even though supercars would not be a status symbol for me (if I could ever afford one), I would be buying one for pleasure of driving, I still would not buy one. I have never been in one on real life roads I drive on but I have a feeling one would not be able to enjoy them to full extent riding low with all the potholes, imperfections, etc. Plus I don't like idea of being highly dependable when it comes to service. With something like Ariel or X-Bow or Stalker etc I would enjoy them to full extent. Pothole? No problem, it won't tear it's guts out. Oil change? I can do it. It lets me concentrate on pleasure of it's ownership not on slavery of ownership.

So how much do these Atoms cost?

First time I looked at them they were affordable (starting at $50K-ish if I remember correctly) but were not available in States. Then Brammo Motorsports started selling them in States with some differences compared to original, price was higher, and it went up at least twice since then. Now I don't want to even price them. Thats' why I am eying X-Bow. I hear it should be in affordable range.
