New Autoglym product - Ultra Deep Shine

7 Years :nixweiss

So in 2012 AG can bring out another product.

My maths is not great but didn't the Second World War last less time. I also think the decision by the USA to go to the moon and actually do it, also took less than 7 years

In apperance it looks no different side by side to AG SRP. I used it but then topped it with EX and CMW so no pics im afraid.

I didn't follow this thread to its natural end when I first posted so didn't realise people were asking for pictures. I've now used the UDS on my car and can report as follows.

This stuff is a total PITA to use! Put it on thick or thin, by hand or by PC and it's still really hard work to remove - not nice at all. In keeping with AG tradition as well it also stains black trim to buggery! However, that being said, it seems to be pretty durable a beads water like crazy! I also think it gives a really nice, dark, wet and glossy look.

These are pics taken back in April when I first used it. This is over the top of one coat of SRP.

I've not done anything else to my car since other than wash it once a week. No QD, no extra coats - nothing! It's been parked in a mixture of locations - inside, outside, railway stations etc and in a wide range of environmental conditions - cold, hot, torrential rain etc.

I'm pleased to report that after two months it's still beading water really nicely and there is still a half decent amount of slickness to the finish - not bad considering I haven't done anything to it.

The only thing I have started to notice is that as this product contains a lot of fillers (not that I had anything to fill!), they have started to "smear" across the finish (obviously as they get broken down by washing etc), and when parked in the sun they are quite obvious. Whilst there are a few swirls after washing, this marks are definitely not paint defects so to speak as I'm far to careful!

So - overall impressions? Well to be honest I'm not sure what to think? It's a PITA to use (both in terms of applying/removing and staining black trim) but it gives a really nice finish (definitely deeper and wetter than SRP/EGP IMO) that has very good durability. Would I use it again? Not sure - you definitely have to be in the mood to use this product, and I think I could find products that are easier to use that give the same if not better results.

Overall I'll give it a 7/10. If AG could engineer it so that it doesn't stain black trim then I'd definitely use it more. Even more so if they could make it easier to use. Until then I think it could find itself stuck on the shelf for some time.

Nice review, Ben! The metallic in the second and third photos (especially) look beautiful. I haven' t yet tried any AG products; if I don't win the free UDS offered in this month's AG give-away, I plan to buy the SRPat the local Autobacs (which may be begining to make a name for itself over here, as it's the only product that seems to usually be sold out whenever I go to buy it :furious: ).
