New Autoglym product - Ultra Deep Shine

My findings so far.

Ease of use

AG Ultra Deep Shine goes on easy as Super Resin, and Carlack 68 ( AIO?). Whether you leave it to dry or remove straight away, it does not come off as easy as the other two. Even when applied thickly though there is little dusting. When applied nice and thin there is none. It seemed hard to remove in a few areas though and required more than just a wipe with a MF, to remove it was more like Autoglym Super Glym which is SRP with no Cut which I have found to be less user friendly than AG SRP. UDS is the same sort of consitancy to the SRP but blue in colour akin to the AG Glass polish, with a fruity type smell, less chemical like than other AG products.

Both the Carlack and SRP where easy on and off.

Results.

AG Ultra Deep Shine, had the wettest look, and did what it said on the tin and did fill swirls. It had little or no cut to it though and was not aggressive IMO. Suface after felt oily to the touch more akin to using a hand glaze such as Megs #7.

AG SRP most aggressive in the Polishing stakes, you could feel and hear the bite on slightly weatherd paint which the other two didn't. Surface after felt a middle man to the Carlack and Deep Shine. Felt slighty less oily but not such a clean smooth finish of the Carlack. Swirls seemed more visable than the Deeps shined area but better hidden than the carlack. Slightly more wet looking than the Carlack.

Carlack 68, which is said to be akin to Klasse all in one. Easily cleaned the suface the best. Yellow megs hand pad turned dirty in colour on both cars tested, easily shifted more ingrained dirt than the other AG pair. Left a very slick, and reflective suface smooth to the touch with out the oily feel off the other pair. Highlighted the imperfections and did nothing to hide anything. Seemed to show the true colour off the paint where there other two tended to slightly darken the paint with there wetter look. Did not seem like an aggressive polish could not feel any abbrassive bite like with the SRP.

Apperance wise side by side on two panels divided into three, all three looked very alike the two AG areas where a little wetter looking and slightly darker in colour and the Carlack was more true to the colour but clearer and more reflective.

I think I would be tempted to Use the Carlack to clean and then the SRP to Polish after. The appreance of the SRP is hardly any different to the Ultra Deep shine and its easier to use. Not had a chance to try the them on Dark paints to compare which is where AG is trying to sell the UDS for. had no AG Supreme to test against but from memory I think the UDS is very alike, esp in its removal.

On swirl free paint I would go for the Carlack alone I feel. Tried some yesterday on a swirl free panel and it looked great.

Will check results off the durabilty off the three.

I tried the UDS on my chrome pedal bin. It went on and off effortlessly and left it seriously slick. I went back to the bin a few hours later and that initial slickness wasn't quite as much. Not a very scientific test I know. But weather wouldn't let me get outside!

I'm looking forward to trying on some proper metal! My brother has just changed his car and it has plenty of swirls and it's a relatively dark blue so it should be a good tester vehicle.

Like Rich mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an AG pro product being re-packaged for the retail market.

Comparing it to a bottle off supreme last night seems quite alike. Supreme is a light purple colour compared to the light blue colour off the UDS. Will try a panel by panel comparision at the weekend.

I've got it Rich, it's still on my desk having not made it to the garage yet!

Hmmmm... I just washed my car this morning and decided to put some UDS down one side.

I'm not that impressed with it TBH. It went on fairly easily, then I left it for around 10mins before removing with an mf cloth - it was a PITA to remove IMO and the resulting look was nothing spectacular. I had to wipe down the car with some QD spray to remove all of the residue.

I'll try it again sometime soon, but next time I'll use the PC with a polishing pad to apply it and see if it performs any better.

But my opinion so far is... if I had to throw away either SRP or UDS, it would be UDS for the bin.

If anyone wants a sample of UDS, let me know!

My feelings exactly went on like SRP but is pain to remove like Superglym and Supreme.

Wether I wiped on and took off almost straight away of left for a few mins still a pain. Look seems almost identical to SRP. I doubt i will buy anymore or use this one up!

Shame really... I was really hopeful of this new product being something special - a sort of next step up from SRP/EGP.

Oh well... UPP remains at the front of my detailing shelf! :D

I also happened to try some the AG Alloy Wheel Seal spray which I was much more impressed with... have you tried it Rich?

I have not tried that, Always AG and SRP my wheels inside and out, worth a try then?

The UDS did seem to hide swirls well on my abused test vehicle!

Rich... I also use SRP on my alloys from time to time and I'd say the AG Alloy Wheel Seal spray wouldn't give you such a shine as SRP, but it is very easy to use - just spray on and buff off. It's a bit like using a furniture polish like Pledge.

I'll see next weekend how much easier the wheels are to clean.

I went through a stage of using that instant show shine on the wheels and that worked well to. May grab some wheel seal next time the AG Guy is round and use that for weekly treatment.

AG now have this on their site. Apparently the Deep Shine is the result of 7 years R&D.

I like most of the AG range but I am not impressed by any company which takes 7 years to bring only one new product to market.

LOL Agreed.

Noticed that and the two new MF products on there site yeserday. A applicator type pad and a expensive packaged MF.
