New Autoglym product - Ultra Deep Shine

I know I'm only a rookie and should still be chained up inside the Autopia University but this post should benefit everybody so I'm going to stick it here!



Whilst browsing the shelves of my local auto store (Halfords) I noticed a product that I hadn't seen before - AUTOGLYM ULTRA DEEP SHINE (which I guess we can instantly acronym to UDS!). I'm guessing they've finally decided to release a wax based topper to compliment their polymer topper, EGP.



From the back of the bottle:



"ULTRA DEEP SHINE - Ultimate polish for modern paints and dark colours.



"UDS is specially formulated to impart a brilliant smear free finish on all paint types particularly dark colours and modern water based finishes. It is particularly recommended for new or moderately deteriorated paintwork. Treated surfaces are protected with a super tough, streak free, high gloss finish.



"UDS contains special emulsifiers and conditioning agents blended with purified water to gently clean and condition paintwork. Selected polymers provide a uniform protective finish with exceptional gloss characteristics and with no streaks or swirls that sometimes mar the appearance of darker paints.



"UDS contains a blend of waxes which cover minor scratches and haze with a smooth even gloss and enrich the vehicle's colour".



So, from the marketing blurb it sounds like its got fillers in it and whilst they're saying it can be used straight off I guess it's going be best after SRP. It's a lot oilier to the touch than SRP.



I'm going to use it as my LSP after both SRP and EG. Will let you know how I get on!



It comes in the standard Autoglym 500ml bottle with a black AG label bordered by gold.

Sounds intresting not seen it yet, was in Halford earlier looking at the Meguiars. Gently cleaning sounds to me as if it will remove EG if used after it?

Funny this thread cropping up... coz I just bought myself a bottle of this UDS today aswell whilst I was looking at the Megs products in my local Halfords store.



I'll get to work with it tomorrow hopefully and see what it's like, providing the weather holds out.



Another thing... any of you UK Autopians noticed that Halfords now sell 'genuine sheepskin mitts'? I got one today to try - they look and feel very nice.

You'll have to wait unril next weekend Scott!. I'm detailing a friends M3 CSL and am going to use only AG on it to see what it comes out like - SRP, EGP, UDS.

Another thing... any of you UK Autopians noticed that Halfords now sell 'genuine sheepskin mitts'? I got one today to try - they look and feel very nice.

I did notice this but have only just replaced my Megs lambswool mitt so resisted the urge! However, I did buy some of the new Turtlewax Platimum Series Performance Car Wash. I've just used it and IMO it's much much slicker than Megs GC. It's a wash only as well so no wax or other crap in it, which must be a first for Turtlewax!:D

BenP- Interesting, look forward to your review of this product (Autoglym has never been considered the sealant du jour in the US, in fact when Autopia stared to sell it it gained the dubious distingtion of being their least sold product. (I've always considered Autoglym and Car-lack (Klasse US)to be about equal, but favoured Autoglym as easier to use)

Im going back to Halfords now in the morning to see these Mits and New Glym!



Just got my carlack today, and thought it was easier to use then SRP?
 
In Bens Blurb it says "Ultimate polish" I think its going to one an alternative to resin, I cant see the benifit of both.

I agree but I cannot think why Autoglym would position a product so close to the Resin.
 
Is it though? Resin doesnt claim to fill or hide defects. The info saying its good for dark finishes is the way AG sell in Supreme polish rather than Radiant wax ( aka SRP) in to the pro users.
 
Rich, I take your point. I was thinking more about the average Halfords customer.



I have noticed the name change, is this for tax reasons?

LOL, the 306 is sold so the username seemed pointless! *** mental note dont use car type as username as one day you will have to change it ***
 
Hi everyone. I haven't been back to this site in a while, was living in Europe and didnt have a car so coming to this site would just get me ****** off that I couldn't detail my own car back in the U.S.



I'm gonna go with Rich on this and say that this product sounds like "Supreme Polish".



Before I left the Autoglym distributor here told me about a new product in the trade range called "Supreme Polish". It was targeted for dark colored vehicles and is really similar to Radiant Wax Polish (Super Resin Polish in premium range). It is a polish and also adds protection. I am assuming that this new product, "Ultra Deep Shine" is simply the same formula as the Supreme Polish but sold in smaller sizes for the everyday consumer. I have yet to try Supreme Polish cause I still have a lot of Radiant Wax Polish left. Will try it later, probably in my next order from the distributor.



I dont think this would be applied on top of EGP cause this is definetly a polish and would remove some if not all of the EGP. However, I have been told that EGP can be added on top of the Supreme Polish so you should be able to layer it on top of this too.
 
Supreme Polish is not as easy on or off as SRP. I have just got off the phone to the guy who gets me my trade Autoglym and he said that the supplier told him about the product last week. As neither of us neded an order this week we havent seen the rep. Next time he comes round we are going to ask him if it is a consumer version off supreme.
 
Hi Guys, This must be a product being retailed in the UK, but not yet offered in the US. On the subject of this being a polish... I am wondering if this isnt a combo product that is meant to be an LSP regardless of the underlying prep and base. That is, to be used either over sealant or cleaned paint as the user sees fit. I am interested to see a review of it used in both manners. I hope someone with access to this product will try it as a topper and as a primary sealant/wax to see how it performs. BTW, as you know, there are several Carauba waxes that contain polymers such as Trade Secret , which is why I wonder how well it will work over prepared paint. How it compares to similarly described products.
 
Well having had a "feel" of it last night UDS is definitely a lot slicker/oilier than SRP - i.e. if you rub SRP between your fingers you can feel the abrasive content, wheres UD feels more like a moisturiser.



I'm going to go on the theory that mochamanz has suggested which is it can be used as an LSP either with or without EGP underneath. I certainly wouldn't replace SRP with it as it quite clearly states on the back of the bottle that it covers and doesn't remove light scratches and swirls.



Time will tell - hopefully I'll have a test panel soon and then I'll get to work appliying it in various combinations.
