Well i went to audi today to pick up some things for my Audi and spoke to my "hookup" Kevin at Audi. He told me to expect to see the A3 in the U.S. in the next 100 days. This years A3 will be a Fwd 1.8t, with next years modelt avalible with a 1.8t quattro! Base prie will be 27,000! Just thought i would update everyone with the Downlow! :xyxthumbs

The car will actually be a 2.0t 200 hp and 208 tq. You are correct though for the first year in the U.S. it will be front wheel drive. The car is based on the new Golf/Gti platform and will be a very solid vehicle.

I wonder if RS3 or S3 will be available here in US. I saw them when I went to Europe this past month, they're indeed sick looking little cars!

Yes tthey will be avalible eventually i was actually about to update the thread with that info! They know for sure the quattro will be avalible next year, but there is no set time or price for a RS3 or S3. They believe the S3 will come in first with the RS3 not to far behind! The RS3 will be a close cousin to the R32 if not faster!

WOW that is pretty steep for an A3. Add quattro to the mix and it'll be over 30K USD! I've always liked the A4 but once again, I find it a few grand to high for what you get.

I'd rather pickup a G35/350Z. Much more tunable, better performance and much better base OEM car should you choose not to touch the vehicle.

Other options in that price point are the BMW 325Xi (AWD) or Lexus IS300 which IMO, are much better vehicles.

All you Audi fans out there might be interested to see an Australian media write up of the new A3. Check out the link.

I am surprised to hear the prices being quoted in North America for the A3. My wife has a 2WD Audi TT Coupe which is listed here in Australia at A$72,995 (equates to ~US$54,750), which I believe lists in the US in the early US$30k.

NO there will be a two door, that makes the A3. If it was a 4 door it would just be another A4. Where did you here this?! And if it was a forum online. They are very unreliable in some instances! Which basically by me saying that controdics this thread but anyway! lol

I received the A3 word several months ago. The local dealer said the S3 would be available in late 05. Iâ€â„¢ve been saving every penny I can :D

I think you would have to be a real Audi fan to like that car.

What's the old saying, "A face only a mother could love" ?

Heh heh, well, I *am* a real Audi fan, and the only dealer I trust only handles Porsche/Audi (and I'm not into Porsches any more).

But I find that new snout so off-putting that I'm genuinely in a quandry as to whether or not I'll buy another Audi.

Accumulatorette has opined that we've never owned any unattractive *anything* and that she'd just hate for us to own something with that front end.

Too many German cars have been hit with the ugly stick, though I'll admit that my wife and I are awfully conservative about automotive styling.

Idk it must be the technique that they are gfoing for i am 17 tuirning 18 and i love the look of the new A3 i am wondering if they are trying to market it to the youths of america cause i know that a lot of kids like me went after ised A4's because they were great besides the turbo lag! But i love Audi's and wiull continue buying them down the road!
