New 7336, product suggestions

Hello, just purchased a Portercable and the Lake Country Orange, White, and Gray pads.



My first car is a 2006 steel gray wrx. I plan on using the white and gray pads to apply a non abrasive polish and wax.



My wash process involves a foam gun but I will be trying ONR for the colder months



Here she is with hand applied NXT Tech Wax. I've been topping it with Duragloss Aquawax lately with pretty decent results, but nothing jawdropping yet. I've found it difficult to get this color to look wet, which is why I purchased the PC. Doesn't need any abrasive polishes as of yet as there is no/minimal marring.

The second car is a neglected 97 Subaru Legacy. It's a deep red color that has the usual swirls/marring that you'd find on a vehicle owned by someone who doesn't share our passion for detailling.



I plan on using the Orange pad and white pads to remove/reduce swirling and marring and then finishing it off with a wax using the gray pad.



Anyhow. I don't currently have any polishing products other than Scratch-X which has seen minimal use on the Legacy. I guess I'm looking for recommendations on polishes to use with the orange and white pads and then maybe a non abrasive polish to use on the WRX just to clean the paint up a little before applying wax.

There's really no such thing as a non-abrasive polish.. Meguiars markets a couple products as such, but they're really just filler glazes. Nonetheless, what I think you're going for is a paint cleaner that won't remove any clearcoat, assuming the paint doesn't have any surface flaws. In that vein, I'd recommend Werkstatt Prime or Klasse AIO.



I'd look at the Optimum line of polishes for the other car. They're very easy to use due to their long working time.
 
does the aio go on with the white or gray pad? and can I top it with nxt?



Also for the second car, is this a good combo?

that sounds like a winner to me, havent used op yet but its comming friday. You may want to have a yellow pad on hand just in case the orange pad fails to reduce your surface imperfections. . . The OC/OP will also remove whatever you have on their as far as a LSP anyway. . .



There are some threads about using AIO with NXT, you should look for them - you may want to consider using KSG as opposed to your NXT, or another type of acrylic sealant. NXT is a polymer/synthetic based sealant . . . an AIO/KSG combo, Werkstatt, Menzurna FMJ/FAJ are products that will yeild you far longer lasting results than the NXT, as far as shine/depth and gloss - thats all up to you.

Thanks, maybe I'll turn the AIO into the Klasse twins and see how that goes.



So the white pad sounds good for applying the AIO? Or the gray since it is only a cleaner?
 
here is where oppinions become scattered like a bunkerbuster bomb . . .



the dam stuff, on the bottle, claims its a cleaner/polish/sealant



now we all know its not a very effective polish, at least not as effective as op or menzurna, hi temp, mg, all that stuff . . .



a white pad will yeild you mild cleaning and final finish polishing



a gray pad will probably do the same, but the finer gray pad will reduce its minimal cleaning/polishing ability to practily nothing . . .



personally, when I touch up my truck and polish isnt needed (like that ever f&^%*& happens - sry, live near trees and stupid people who like to touch cars) i use a white pad with AIO and top it with KSG by hand. It is what I do . . . It works for me . . . others will disagree - just search for some Klasse forums, people get into arguements over it . . they could be drinking beer . . . what a waste..
