Never too many buffers

The ebay deal is greater than any other I have found. It's just $134 shipped and that includes insurance. Even if I don't like it I won't have trouble not losing much on it.:)

I Took back my Harbor Freight unit and got my money back. I wish their was a tool store where I could go in and see the different machines everyone is talking about. Its hard buying stuff over the net unless you are SURE about your purchase. Gary

Hi Gary:

Not sure if they have the various rotarys that you want to see but Berlands House of Tools does have a big selection of powered equipment. I have seen some Metabo and Fein tools at their store in Palatine. They also have a store in Lombard.

Yes I did. I called this morning and was told that the DHL guy didn't show up at all on Friday so it hadn't shipped yet.

Hmm, just checked that tracking number and it shows a package that's already delivered. They're gone for the day now. I guess I'll have to check with them tomorrow.

my tracking number did the same and i called them at 5:30 and they answered

they said that DHL must reuse the tracking number and it usually isnt valid till the next morning, tomorrow if it still doesnt work call them back and they will call DHL

I think you guys are really going to like the Hitachi. I've only had mine for maybe 2 weeks and I'm almost finished doing my 4th car / truck with it. While I still prefer my air driven rotaries (old school tools :grinno: ), the Hitachi is much nicer than my old Rockwell rotary and its very easy to use. I can easily feather my work when needed with the use of the trigger and it has plenty of torque for any polishing job. I used it with the larger Edge 2000 blue pad (70 ppi) with Optimum Polish at ~1600 RPM and cleaned up the hoods of a couple trucks that sit outside all year long in a dirty environment. The paint looks so fresh & smooth afterwards and all those unsightly halo scratches are now gone (not filled). While I did get some halograms from using the rotary, the PC with a blue Edge 2000 pad with Optimum Polish made very quick work of the Halograms in one single pass and that was that (ready for LSP!) :xyxthumbs

You'll like the Hitachi :woohoo:

looks nice but i dont really have any rotary experience except a class i took at C.A.R Products

without the backing plate i wont be able to try it yet

Is it quiet? It did come with a backing plate right? I'm going to guess that you don't have any pads large enough for that plate though.

Well its tuesday did you get it?

i got the wrong backing plate delivered yesterday so the company is 2 daying me the right one

Yep! I got it this morning. I haven't had a chance to use it yet other than starting it up and changing to the various speeds. I had a real beast today to contend with. I will get to use it tomorrow on an old school Porsche though.:)

OK, I used it today and have a good impression of it. I kept checking the side of it to see if the Makita label was going to appear. It feels, works and sounds JUST LIKE a Makita 9227! I am less fatigued after using it on a 2 step detail today of a "updated" 74 Porsche. I never felt like I needed to put it down for a few minutes and I required fewer breaks.:)

If you're looking to buy a Makita, I'd say that this is one in disguise with a longer warranty and if you can find them on ebay again, a much lower price.
