Neglected BMW E36 M3 leather

My wife got a E36 (1997) M3. I looked at it and decided it would be a good buy, the paint was a 5/10 but I new I could correct it to a 8.5-9 with a few hours of work. The interior on the other hand is a worse. The dash and all is great but the headliner adhesive is a failing, again no biggie. I also noticed that the seats were rock hard leather just me pushing on one spot cracked the back seat. We got the car when it was still cold out but none the less I treated the seats with Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil, I let it sit over night to find out that the seats have been PAINTED! a lot the Rejuvenator was stilling on top of the leather! but it still did soften the seats....A LOT! Now that its a little hot out I have removed the rear seats and soaked them in Rejuvenator again and put them in trash bags and put them in the hottest room in my house which is my laundry room (constantly 85+) Im going to leave them in there for a few days and hope for the best. So she drives it daily but Im wondering what I can do for the front seats. Think I could just spray it down and bag them and tell her to be careful?

Anyone know of anyway to remove leather paint or at least a way to make the seats soft again? Once I save a few more $$$ Im going to redo the leather but thats a few years down the road. Once again any idea will be helpful.

Uh oh... another leather thread. Check this out... http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-detailing-product-discussion/121352-leather-cleaner-recommend.html

Everything you did and did not want to know about leather.

:wow: Thanks... I think anyone know what type of leather a E36 M3 has and a 2003 Mini cooper S?Leather Identification - leather repair kit, vinyl repair kit, leather cleaner, leather cleaning, leather dye & paint Im going to give some LM products a go.

get aftermarket replacement leather and save time and money. rock hard leather is toast once its done for. Sure leatherique helps a bit, but it won't make an autopian happy.

Is it a coupe or sedan? Luxury package or vadar seats?

Its a 4dr sedan (LOVE THE 4 DOOR!) and the seats look like:

SO FAR! in the one day in the "hot room" the rear seats are really really soft. I picked up some 40gal trash bags and am going to start the 7 day soak on the front seats! Im hoping for the best!

But yes your right I'm never going to be happy untill the leather is NEW!
