Bought some Gtechniq G1 and the glass polish (blanking on the G number) to prep for it. Any tips on using the polish by machine? Microfiber or foam pad better?

It`s horrible to use no matter how you do use it, I`d stick with a regular compound (assuming your primary goal is a bare surface) or buy CarPro Ceri Glass (if the goal is to remove a tonne of oxidisation or remove very fine scratches).

I have only used 3 different products on glass to polish - Zaino Z12 Glass Polish, Meguiars M105 Compound, and CarPro Ceri-Glass, all with Rotary Power or a Porter Cable Random Orbital, and 4 inch foam pads..
They all work well if you keep them moist so they can work to almost nothing, never letting them dry, putting too much on, and then having this awful mess to deal with, including making that pad now unuseable for the rest of the glass polishing process..
The CarPro Ceri-Glass was just invented when I tried it, and it seemed to be the easiest to use of my choices..
Be sure to mind all trim around all glass, especially the side windows that seem to always have that rubber trim which will be jacked if it gets rubbed on with something abrasive.. Have to tape it with some 1/4" and/or 1/8" Scotch painters tape, etc..

I`ve used it w an LC orange foam pad on a GG6 DA w little detrimental side effects. In my mind its more of a cleaning step than it is defect-removal or correction of even the smallest marring. Glass is some tough stuff.
