Okay I'll try the Hot Rims, and see how I get on, maybe agitate with a brush, and then clay. If no good, just accept that when you use competition pads, there is always going to be a compromise, and in this case it's bad looking alloys.:)

you may need to try some #0000 steel wool, it may dull the finish slightly but it will look better than when covered with dust IMO.

I know it contains ammonium bifloride which is similar to HF acid

I am not bashing the product in any way - - the stuff kicks butt apart from the bleached appearance it leaves after extended use.

OTOH, I wish somebody had spoken UP about the chemical contents BEFORE I ordered a gallon. I don't like keeping stuff like this around. On occasion, the wife will wash her car and do her own wheels and she'll grab the bottle marked Wheel Brightener and use it without any concerns whatsoever. It's likely the kids will be nearby and my son will feel compelled to squirt my daughter in the face with it ---just for laughs, of course. They could never comprehend the seriousness of a move like that. Therefore, I continue to look for “safe alternatives and have recently purchased the FK wheel cleaner which appears to be a comparable value and doesn’t carry the related health concerns.

Just my $0.03

I agree.

I'm very concerned with safty too :xyxthumbs I use ONR at 4-6oz/gal for most wheels, it lifts dust very well, provided its not baked on and its MUCH safer.

the wheel brightener is very strong stuff, i accidently spilled some on our tile floor and it permanently stained it... :(

There is only 1 correct answer to this question...Real Wheel Cleaner from Protective Products Corporation. I picked up this stuff about 4 years ago for my BMW, and would now never use anything else.

Immediately on contact, this product safely penetrates, dissolves and destroys brake dust from any type of wheel. What I love best is that Real Wheel Cleaner is faster & safer than acids as it cannot damage clearcoat, anodizing, paint, plastics or any metal. It also rinses away quickly with water, and contains no hazardous acids. I usually buy it onlineReal Wheel Cleaner

Good luck! :heelclick
