Need some help on my black 04 gt!

i got a 04 mustang gt about 2 months ago,black of course now fords paint sux but i deatild it using some meguairs tech wax and ardex seal b. that knida of all faded away and didnt lst very long,also i need to know how u uys wash and dry ur dark cars to avoid swirls! and what products would u reccomend for polish and ax to take car of my black beauty and keep her swirl free and deep and rich looking?

thanks ver ymuch i know how to buff and everytihng i did detailing for a year or so in a dealership but im not to familiar with the products used on here

Well when you wash, use a good quality soap. (megs NXT, Black Magic, Gold CLass) use two buckets, one soapy water, one clean water. It would alsp be good to use two mitts. One for the bottom of the car, one for the top. And a brush or something for the wheels. Wash in a front to back motion, and start with the wheels and work your way up. When you rinse it will be easiest to dry if you take the sprayer off the end of your water hose, and just "flood" the surface. I'm sure some one will chime in about QEW, but I haven't used it so I wouldn't be of any help. Good luck, and nice car btw.

Washing without marring requires a way to get the dirt off the surface without rubbing it into the paint (which causes the marring) during the process. Use a high-lubricity shampoo, a slick LSP, and wash frequently before the dirt gets built up on the finish. And use a wash technique that "floods" the dirt off, not one that "scrubs" it off.

Simple polish answer: 3M PI-III RC (pn 05933) and PI-III MG (pn 05937). Both work fine by rotary/PC/hand and will handle almost every problem you'll encounter. Or get the 1Z polish trio (Ultra Polish, Paint Polish, Metallic Polish), which also work great by any method.



Simple wax answer: I like 4* UPP or Meg's #16 paste wax. Collinite's 476S paste wax is good too, and it lasts a long time. IMO *nothing* looks *better* on dark colors than Pinnacle's Souveran, but it doesn't last long and it won't do much to protect against marring.
