Need some help choosing the right wax.

Hi all, I've been a member since I purchased my '03 BMW M3 over a year ago, and visited this site quite often till I find the right combo to detail the M. I was using Griots products with much satisfaction with the exception of the time involved, but I didn't mind on that vechicle, because it was like polishing a trophy.

I just traded the M in for a '04 Lexus GX470 in Pearl white. Now for my question... I want the truck to look great, but don't want to spend alot of time on it. I would spend 2 days fully detailing the M. I'm looking for a process that can be done in a few hours, easy on, easy off, and will hold up well to the elements since this truck doesent fit in the garage. How is the new NXT from Meguiars? A co-worker just did his mustang with it and it looked great! I'm looking to clay it, prep, and wax. So anyone please chime in and provide some help.

I've spent about a couple hours using the search and have found alot of info, but there is just so much :xyxthumbs

For anyone who has used the NXT, I'd love to here your comments! Thanks. BTW, since I just picked up the truck a week ago, do you think I should wait a couple weeks before waxing?

I've used NXT on my white explorer with very nice results. I've also topped with S100. Both products stand alone well or combined. Maybe try some PwC by itself of topped with EX. Another excellent combo would be Vanilla Moose topped with EX.

I washed, clayed, polished and NXT'ed my RX330 in about 6 hours. I did that on 4/21/04 and it is still looking very sharp. Water beads and it still feels slick. Been washed 4 times since and rained on about 4-5 times a week. Dirt doesn't stick. Crappy weather here this spring. NXT is still holding up very, very well.

Hi Franky,

I used NXT once...loved the look, but the durability wasn't terrific in my experience. You'll see the same opinion echoed around here, but you'll also see people who found it durable as well so the difference might be as much the result of the application as it is the product.

Personally, even though it can't be described as an easy on, easy off the way PS21/s100 is, Megs #16 would totally fit your durability requirement....And, if you work in small sections and remove it promptly, it's not a tough off.

IMO, NXT is a good choice, especially if you are looking for an easy to use product. The last time I used it, it took me two hours to wash and apply one coat. Easy as that.

I would recommend looking at Einszett products. Ease of use and durability have really impressed me. Good luck.

Pearl White

Larger vehicle with limited time for care+

Longer durability needs+

Einszett Glanz Wax

Thanks for the opinions! I'm going to look into the Einszett Glanz.

Do they have a full range of products, wash, polish, etc....? Also where can it be purchased and does it give a nice slick, wet look?

Jfelbab, which polish did you use before the NXT? Thanks again members :xyxthumbs

Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze.

My personal experience:

Pearl white (gold crystal) 03 RX 300.

Looks best with Z1/Z2. (a kind of sparkling look)

Super easy maintainence with EO's WAUD.

Parked outdoor 24/7. One of wife's cars - meaning

she parked it anywhere resulting in target practices

for birds and those sneaky ambushing supermarket carts.

Other products tried:

1. Dri wash (not recommended :o))

2. Zymol cleaner wax

3. NXT

4. Pinnacle's LS

5. AIO followed by S100

6. UUP (limited panels - cann't comment much)
