Need some advice

Alright guys seen your guys work and your cars come out looking good as new if not better than what they came from from the factory. But I need some advice I'm going to detail my friends 95 BMW 540i on Wednesday he needs it ready for a huge Euro auto show, and has a lot of swirls marks. It is a black BMW by the way. So what would you guys recommend I do to remove the swirl marks? I've seen some SwirlX by Meguiars, but I'm open to the pro's ideas lol

you going to work this by hand or machine? If by hand working on a black car your going to want a product with fillers to hide the swirls.

Do you want OTC or online products? Sounds like OTC.
 
I'm going to wash by hand and and clay by hand and then wax by a buffer, and I'm new to all this detailing stuff so I don't know what you said on that 2nd part lol

OTC= Over the counter. What kind of buffer are you using?

I don't buy any OTC products to speak of so I'm going to let someone else chime in.

If you want to buy online like Poorboys World I can make a lot of suggestions.
 
Nah I want to stick to something I can grab quickly, I have a lot of good stuff from Meguairs but I just wanted to see what else or if this is any good or is there is something better? And its a Craftsman Buffer 10 inch.
 
Get more of the terry cloth covers. Call around and find a paint supplier in your area that sells megs M205 and Megs #6. Use the terry by itself to correct to your satisfaction. Buy at least 6 good microfibers. After the 205 place a good microfiber down on a flat panel. Press your buffer into the center to matt down the fibers. Draw an "x" in the middle with #6 not exceeding 1 " of the outside diameter. Place nickel size dots inside the "v's". Flip the towel over and place the buffer( with a clean cotton) on the center and polish with #6. Doing it on the roof or hood will
help you learn to keep th MF under the cotton. When it mats down flip the towel and change accordingly.

When it looks done follow up with a hand waxing #6 following the lines air flows over the car. If it mats down flip the towel then change accordingly. Top with NXT 2.0.

That's the only OTC advice I can
give.

For OTC (you may also see OTS or "off-the-shelf) products, you could give Megiar's Ultimate Compound a try if the Swirl-X isn't giving you the results you and your friend want. Both of these products are designed to be used by hand and are available locally, at least in my area. You can search to find "Quick Tips" by Meguiar's which will briefly explain the usage via a short (see quick) video. Someone on this forum has used the Ultimate product line, but I don't recall who that was.
