Need some advice on scratch removal

I have read a ton of very useful info on this site but I rarely post.I just bought a 2001 Silverado that is in great shape with your normal micro-maring and some fine scratches.I have been using a orange 4" pad with Poorboy 2.5 with PC and also tried white LC pad on my rotary with minimal results.I used this same process on our 2005 Caravan about six months ago and it took forever. Is there a step up in polish and a pad to make this go a little quicker. To give you a idea it takes about two hours for a door to get 98% of scratches out.Does 3M make anything that is a step up from SSR 2.5?appreciate your help.

I think you may be using too much product on your pads. SSR polishes work great on the PC and make short work of most paint defects in a timely manner. If too much product is used on the pad though, the abrasives in the polish glide over the oils present in the polish and don't really break down and remove defects. I'd give the SSR series another shot, just cut down on the amount of polish you use this time.

another few things that i just thought of, make sure your PC is on speed 6. Using a slower speed greatly increases the time needed for the polishes to remove swirls/scratches. go slowly over the surface and go over the area for a few passes.

Since you have spent so much time anyway..why not drop back and try a green or orange on your rotary.
