need some advice for old car

My mother-in-law has a 91 caprice(maroon) . the paint is horrible.

lots of oxidation, etc. I want to clean it up a bit and wax it for her.

Im not looking to spend a lot of time/money on it, and i dont expect it to look like new when i get done.I just want to remove the dead paint and get a coat of wax on it. What is a good

cheap/easy to use cleaner-wax for a job like this?

If you really don't want to put a lot of time and money into it, that sounds like a job for NuFinish.



It's fairly abrasive but will last a long time. I still have a bottle that I use for waxing the bottom rails and parts underneath my jeep. It will give a decent shine and if done right will clean the suface decently. For all of the nay-sayers, no it will not be up to Autopia standards but for a mother-in-laws car it willl suffice ;)

Gold Class has no cleaner properties that would work to really revive an oxidized/neglected finish. Definitely go for the NuFinish if you're looking to do a quickie job on it - NF has great abrasive properties.... you may want to go over it twice for better results...



or perhaps you would consider doing:



NuFinish x1

Gold Class x1 (over top of the NuFinish)



that would give you an extra shine/better protection. :xyxthumbs
 
NuFinish is a great wax for a job like this. If you want, you can also clay. It won't do anything to remove the oxidation, but it will help the paint's appearance, and it will help a coat of wax last longer. Your mother-in-law will also be impressed by the smoothness!
