Need Sealant / Wax recommendation

Hello. in the next few weeks, I will be doing a detail on a friend's car and need some advice on a sealant or wax. The car is not garaged and not detailed regularly so I want to go with something that offers long lasting protection. the car is a dark silver S2000.

I have a PC and after claying will be polishing with either Menz IP or SIP, then FP. Need some advice after that. I currently have some Menz Finishing Touch Glaze and FMJ, Poorboys EX-P and Natty's Blue, and some Duragloss 111. I could go with any of those, or purchase something new for it. (always up for trying something new!)

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you. I just read about it on Autogeek and they mentioned using the Polish Bonding Agent. Can I apply these with the PC?

Any other recommendations?

Collinite 476S. It's the overall best thing I've used for drivers and it worked great on vehicles that were outside 24/7. Also offers great beading (which will impress people, they'll know their car was "really waxed") and dirt-shedding (which will help it stay nice for a long time). If you're only doing one coat, I can't imagine anything working out better.

Accumulator,

How well does Collinite bond to 1z's Paint Polish or Metallic Polish? Would it be best to remove any residue left by the 1z products before applying Collinite?

My understanding is that if you are applying a synthetic LSP then you should remove the 1z residue prior to application. But, is this necessary with carnauba based LSPs?

thanks.

I own a Spa Yellow S2000 (garaged and never seen a drop of rain) and have had great results with several coats of Klasse SG followed by P21S. I also use Raggtopp for the, well, ragtop. I have several layers of Klasse SG on my garaged daily driver and it lasts a long time. I think 2 - 4 mos is a fair expectation for a car that is not garaged. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate the recommendations.

Yeah, unfortunately, this one definitely sees rain. (seems to be the preferred method of washing the car lately.) We did the whole car a while back with the Menz IP, FP, Glaze, and FMJ and I couldn't have been happier. (posting a pic as I am pretty proud of it being only my second full detail) Unfortunately though, like I said, just doesn't get maintained as well as you'd like and therefore want something that nice and long lasting:

The Collinite 845 and 476S bond fine to 1Z PP and MPwW, so *NO* I don't recommend stripping off the wax that the 1Z leaves behind.

If I'm using a LSP that won't bond to them, I'd just use different polishes (e.g., 1Z Pasta Intensiv and 1Z High Gloss).

I've never had any problems applying Collinite waxes (or other carnaubas) over top of anything.

Note that the older version of MP (in the round, 1-liter can) only contained a synthetic wax; my UPP bonds to it just fine. Dunno if they're still selling that version though

My DD is a 94 White Mark VIII, I used DG 501 topped with DG 111. I drive 350 miles a week, mid week I usually use some Meg UQD, then wash on weekends, 2x I have used Prima Hydro as I dried the car and it still looks great, water beads and sheets right off, been on the car for 2 months so far.

Since it sits out 24/7 and gets washed when it rains I would vote collinite. Some have reported that wax hold up better to bird poop then sealants do, something to think about.

Thanks guys. Yeah. I think I am leaning towards to Collinite. Also helps that appears I can have him run into Harbor Freight and pick it up so I don't have to deal with mail order. (my mail orders tend to get big as I always say "well, while i'm ordering, lets get this and this, and ooooh free shipping at $75 and 10% off at $100 so lets add more....")

Might also use it on my wife's car. It garaged and gets washed regularly, but not waxed / sealed as often as i'd like. It a Honda Element. I do not mind waxing it, it's the hour long tape job before that kills me. (and then the tape messes up the black wow on the plastic panels so I'd be redoing that)

Thanks again.

My car sits outside 24/7 as well and my favorite two have been Collinite and UPGP. I like UPGP the best, both for the look and for the durability. In Texas heat, it holds up much better than Collinite did.

bullyx2- Note that the 1Z and the Collinite work fine on *some* plastics. No idea if they'd work OK on your Element, so be careful if you try it...but I've used them on a lot of "don't wax that!" surfaces with great results.

Alfisti- Yeah, but there has been some confusion regarding whether or not it (the stuff inside the can) is the same stuff I have  There have been at least two versions of "Pro-Line Metallic Polish".

My Pro MP is a thick, greenish-white product.

Has one of the 'versions' meant to have been re-packaged MP+W?

Pakshaks' web-page says it's different to MP+W.

Alfisti- No, nothing that simple (unfortunately). I forget the specifics, but whoever I was discussing this with said that their stuff was a) not the same as mine, at least appearance-wise, and b) not just MPwW :nixweiss

And PakShack has had that "not the same" note up forever, so I wouldn't go by that either
