Just ordered my PC7424 and I am planing on using it to remove swirl marks on a black lexus sc430, I was thinking of ordering the hex logic pad kit from Cg but What pads would you guys reccomend? And will my buffer come with a 5' and 6' counterweight? or do they usually ship with only the 5' thats already hooked up?

mine came with one on eshine,ca with 5 inch specific CW but i dont use any other weight for when i use my 4 inch pads ... it wont make a difference .

i really want to get 5.5 inch pads but apparently 4 inch are best for the PC

i have 6.5 inch and yes i realize they are way too big for a first timer to handle with a small machine like the PC

i cant wait to test out my 4 inchers !

I prefer the 6" counterweight, but it's a subtle difference and many people don't notice any improvement. They only cost a few bucks if you decide you want to try one later.

And yeah...I'd use 4" pads for correction even on softish clear.

whats the differnce in using 4in instead of 6in?

Short version: the smaller pads cause less friction and thus the machine can be used more aggressively without "merely jiggling", which is what happens when you overload its ability to spin the pad (one half of the "dual action" motion). Also the machine's abilities are more concentrated when applied to (only) the surface area of the smaller pad.

More detailed explanations are out there if you want to do the dreaded SEARCH, or you can just take my word for it (I know, risky when somebody on the internet says that ;) ) that the 4" pads are simply a whole 'nother ballgame when it comes to doing correction; there's just no comparison.
