Hello everyone!

I was looking at a makita 9227c tonight on ebay. It was 125 bucks plus 15 bucks shipping. Is that a good deal on this unit?

Greg

Used. Is the dewalt much lighter? Im looking for a quality rotary that will last. This will be a first rotary for me. suggestions?

Greg

yes much lighter.dewalt buffers last , as long as you dont beat the crap out of it.i use onr everyday pretty hard.i remove lots of scatches every day.if you are going to use it say ,one or two times a year it will last forever. the only thing you may have to replace is the brushes within a couple of years.if it is used ask him how old it is and how hard it was used . i think a new dewalt will run you about $200 new

Dewalt is 8 I think?
It feels like it's made of cement compared to the Makita.
Yes, according to the web sites and specifications the Makita is lighter. My Makita should be here this week, hopefully tonight!

for the work ur going to use it...i think u could probally get by with just about anything.....i say just fit inside ur budget and you should be fine. just get a good set of pads.

I got my DW849 from Ebay for $129.99 and it was a refurb, but still carries the same warranty of a brand new one.

Check if the one you are getting is also a refurb. Personally, I've found refurbed items to work great.

I have Makita 9227c, I use it very often, heck more than my PC now. Once you go with rotary you wont go back with PC :D
Get it Greg!

I think that model you're looking at I have used and it was a great machine. My DeWalt is a touch heavier, but much quieter IMO. I never notice the weight even after doing my whole truck with PB 2.5, 1. Either machine should last you for the long haul! You'll love it! You may still use your PC for applying wax or sealants...but I bet it collects a bit of dust after you get your rotary!

Well im going to get it.. but im guessing it will be a few weeks. I have already need to pay for..

Autogeek order 100+
Poorboys order 100+
business logo polo shirts
business cards

One i have paid that off and have taken my gf on a date then i will get the makita!

I have had a Makita 9227 for over 15 years. The damn thing is just about indestructible! I did have a minor problem with te switch sticking in the on position, put I blew compressed air through the slots in the housing and that solved that problem.

I have 2 dewalts and never had a problem with 1 of them. The other is just for back up. Makita, DeWalt, Porter Cable, Milwakee are all great brands just price and preference is whats its about.

Got my Makita last night and LOVE it! I tried it out on a blue ZX2. I used a white polishing pad and SSR2 and it got the paint shining better than new in no time flat!

A friend of mine has had his for like 8 years or something and he owned a body shop and this was the only one he had. He said the only thing that ever went wrong was the cord getting damaged, which is not Makitas fault.

I hope i will love it. I am going to be very intimedated for while. I am planning on getting some practice to work on. I will be scared to try it on a car for the 1st time. But im going to get one because I need to get one!
