:nixweiss nw to board wanted to say hello and wondered if any one could help. i just bought a 2000 chevy z71 truck. it has what they call victory red paint that still looks showroom. the problem is i work at a chemical factory where the main catalyst is acid. i was wondering if anyone knows what would be the best stuff to use to maintain my finish and how often i should reapply. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks in advance

I would recommend a sealant to help you protect your new "Cherry" Victory Red paint.

I have used Klasse and Platinum sealants. I also have become so spoiled by P21S and Souveran wax, for their ease of use, that I started to look for sealants that are as easy to use as the above waxes.

I have just ordered Poorboys new "EX Sealant". I have not used it yet but I plan on using it on my next full wash, strip, compound, polish, sealant & wax topper detail, coming up very soon.

Here is a link to a review on Autopia about Poorboys EX.

Check it out. I also would recommend a good Quick Detailing spray like KlearCote's Quick Shine. QS has no wax and leaves a very slick surface.

I hope this helps. :D

Have a look at the ABC stuff from www.Autoint.com. In addition I wash wash or rince on a regular basis to weaken any acid. It might also be worth checking with your company to see exactly what products are ventilated to the outside world.

:wavey thanks guys i appreciate the input. hopefully if i combine all the replies i can keep my paint looking new. the chemicals are not vented outside, sometimes a gasket might blow and we lose alittle mist but when this happens you can see it on the cars if the wind blows in the right direction. again thanks for the input and to let you know i love the site lots a great tips
