i have a porter cable 7424, im using poorboys ssr 2.5 with an 4"orange pad and i can't get out even the lightest of swirls. Do my products suck or what? do i need to step up to a yellow pad?

i have yellow, orange, white, and blue pads. poorboys 3, ssr2.5, ssr 1, clearkote red moose machine glaze, clearkote carnuba moose wax, poorboys ex- p sealant, and optimum poly seal.

What am i doing wrong here? it feels like i've wasted my money on these products. Ive spent 30 minutes on 1/3 of the hood so far and nothing. If i sit over a swirl/scratch or go back and forth slowly it doesn't seem to make a difference.

For correction, you'll need to make sure to apply some pressure, bump the PC speed to 5 or 6, move the buffer at a slow, deliberate pace, and work the polish long enough.

SSR 2.5 on a 4" orange pad should be able to remove moderate swirls in my experience.

that's exactly what im doing, but these aren't deep scratches or anything. Should i work it till the product starts to dust as the directions say? Or just till a haze?

I don't think you have to work it until it starts to dust, just until it breaks down and clears out. Although when I used SSR2.5 I remember it did dust some.
