Need Help Finding Polishing Wheel

Might buy a second-hand makita 9227c orbital polisher, but the only wheel the seller has is a wire wheel. does anyone know where I might be able to pick up a polishing wheel or a polish kit for the 9227c?

also, can this be used as a random orbital sander? it might actually make the price of buying a new random orbital polisher worth-while. I don't want to fork out $150 for both a sander and polisher...sorry kinda new to the detail game, as well as getting into the wood working game...expensive hobbies.

The 9227 is a rotary polisher, not an orbital. Any auto paint/body shop supplier or professional detailing supplier will have backing plates and buffing pads for rotary polishers that use the industry standard spindle threading (which the Makita does).

Dynabrade makes an attachment for doing orbital buffing with a rotary like the 9227, not sanding. It’s a cool machine but a very different animal from the “PC style orbitals/DA’s (which can be used as both sanders and polishers). Expect to pay more than a hundred bucks for a Dynabrade kit. :buffing:

If you’re looking for a cheap hobby, this ain’t it. :D
