Need help ASAP, got the car outside...

My father went ahead and fixed the 6 foot long key mark by himself, he put way too much clear coat on and now we need to remove it but it won't come off.

How do I remove clear coat that is 5 days old? It comes off if you scratch it with your fingernail but that would literally take me like 4-5 hours and I don't have the time.

What can I use?

If you can, give me a ring @ 617-784-3134, I'll be outside and on the fourms.

joe - ya gotta sand that crap off of there - use some 1200 grit sandpaper on it, wet..... maybe oversand a bit, then compound it. Reapply the clear thinner and follow up with some 1500 or 2000 grit wetsanding and a good compounding.

.......don't ya just hate it when un-detaling savvy people take detailing into their own hands?? :scared :nono

Thanks, I just went to the store and got:

320

400

600

800

1500

2000

Grit wet sanding paper. I am going to read up some more from DavidB on how to use this stuff and then take care of the fan.

Thanks.

I would not touch the car with any thing courser than 1500, and would recommend 2000 only! It is way to easy to go through the adjacent clear coat and then you real problem. If you try to touch up clear coat it will halo in the sun around the touched up area.
