Need advice on what products to use....After color sanding.

So will the m105 be my lsp....? Any other products and color pc pads I should order...?

NO. The M105 will be the aggressive, first-step compound, to be followed by a milder polish.

If you want to use a LSP you can try the presumably fresh-paint0-safe ones that Shiny Lil Detlr mentioned. I myself use Meguiar's #5 New Car Glaze or 3M Imperial Hand Glaze.

I am about to pull the trigger on a order. I was advised in using smaller pads (5.5" size as opposed to the 6.5"). I need a 5" backing plate and would also like to get a 3" for spot repairs and hard to reach areas. My questions to you season vets is...

1...Is the meguiars 5" W67DA backing plate, and the Meguiars 3" S3BP better than the Buff n shines brand counterparts...?

2... Also, is anything else required on my GG6 for the 3" backing plate, to use with 4" pads to work properly...? Another counterweight...?

3.. What is a good hand application applicator to buy...? Microfiber or those Yellow round foam applicators found at parts stores...?

I really Do not want a smaller GG 3" polisher, mainly because of my budget at this time. Slowly i will get where i need to be on supplies and product varieties. But for now, would like to use the 6" GG i bought if at all possible.

Here's the thread. It mostly deals with the process of wet sanding itself, but there is also some good discussion what to do after the wet sanding:

Rob...i finally got a chance to read through your entire thread tonight. Here it is 3 in the morning and I'm researching and reading alot on what to use on my Urethane clear coat fresh paint. I know it has been over a year and a half since you done this job, but i wanted to congratulate you on a fine job. I hope one day i get at least half as good as you are. Damn....! What an improvement on the SS. I plan to pursue this hobby with great interest and passion. For personal satisfaction, and maybe some day for a bit of profit. Here in my home town, nobody i know does extensive detailing. Turtle wax and armour all is what i see and hear. Very behind on times here. I am my worst critic, and i must say I'm a little anal on my work, even when i paint, i prep and spray as if it was my own vehicle. I just have to decipher all these products and tools detailers use, get acquainted and get after it. Thanks for your post and link, very informative. I see Accumalator as well as other members guided and chimed in on your project. Thank you all up to now...i appreciate all the responses.

No idea, but generally I'd be confident with any name-brand plate. If in doubt I guess I'd go with Meguiar's.

No, nothing else. Same counterweight/etc.

I'd get the yellow foam "wax applicator" type pads.

But for by-hand polishing you might need some different options. Generally, cotton terry is the most aggressive (will often leave some marring), foam is next (and what I'd generally recommend), and MF is the most gentle.

Note that you can vary how the foam works (by hand) by using the various foam pads made for machine polishing.

IMO you can get by just fine with only the GG 6" polisher. The little one is kinda neat, but it's not really an essential for most situations. I got by fine without a little polisher for decades, and even now I don't get it out all that often.

Awesome....I will order all this today. Im also getting a megs. 5" mf kit for practice on my personal neglected viechles. This will also save me from buying a 5" backing plate as it comes with one. I will get a assorment of LC ccs pads...m105,m205, and maybe a good liquid wax. I have some s100 left over from many years...im a little hesitant in using it. Maybe some souveran or ps21. I aslo have the best of show included in the gg kit I bought. Ill play the waiting game until all this arrives. Maybe next weekend ill have some results and pics to post

Unless the S100 looks obviously bad, I wouldn't assume you need to replace it (at least not with P21s). Wonder if you'll like the BOS...some people do.

I live in idaho with freezing weather in the winter..I have had these two jars of s100, megs #7, and some other product I can't remember the name of in the garage for about 4 years. I unscrewed the s100 partial used jar and new one.....they still look good. I actually had these jars shipped from back east to me by a member here. I will consider using these on my personal viechles....heck I have nothing to loose
