Autopia RULES,

I have creeped around for the last 2 weeks and hopefuly soaked up enough knowledge to make this car care purchase to keep my graphite pearl 04 accord exV6 looking good. I just graduated college and finally upgraded out of the beaters, which never recieved this type of love or $ investment. Is the combination below good for dark grey paint jobs?

I bought a power cable 7424 package with the sonus pads

-Klasse all in one

-Klasse sealant glaze

-pinnacle souveran caranuba wax

This weekend I will make my first try at developing that perfect shine! I have a few questions for applying and removing the products that I got.

1.Should I apply AIO by hand or with the pc (I plan on practicing on my girls car first)?

by hand what towels and procedure?

by pc which pads and speed for apply and removal, how long to let dry or work in to paint?

2.Wait 24 hrs then wash again and apply SG and wait another 24 hrs wash again and put another layer on?

by hand what towels and procedure?

by pc which pads and speed for apply and removal, how long let dry or work into paint?

3.Wait another 24 to 48 hrs and wash again and apply pinnacle?

by hand what towels and procedure (i got the kit with the polishing towels in it)?

by pc which pads and speed for apply and removal, how londg do you let wax work in or dry?

I am not avoiding the search function!! It is more personal to get direct info from members with such detailing experience!!!! I just hope I can duplicate some of the incredible cars shown on this site.

Thanks for your time,

Brett

If your not attacking swirls , do the AIO and SG by hand. You really dont use very much with those 2 products and the PC pads just absorb too much... The Souveran, by hand too, this is another product you need only a little. These three products I use all the time too. The PC comes out only when Im in a hurry :)

I would do the AIO with the PC. It's easier, and you'll get a more uniform cleaning/application.

To do the AIO: Make a thin 'X' on your PC Pad, and then spritz it with a shot or two of quick detailer. Go East-West across the panel, then go North-South across the panel, then go again East-West and North-South. This will thin out the AIO, and will also work it so that it fully cleans the panel. After this, wipe off what is left, and go to the next panel.

There is no need to wait 24hrs between AIO and SG. Simply go around the car with the AIO, then put away the PC, and do the SG by hand. (Search for the BillNorth method, as this seems to give the most consistant results for me)

You will need to wait 24hrs between coats of the SG (washing in between if the car is driven). I typically don't drive the car between coats, so I just give a light wipe-down with a California Car Duster before the next coat of SG.

Be sure to wait 24 hrs after the last coat of SG before going to your wax. (Even though, in my opinion, I prefer the look of the SG without a wax topper)

As to what pads to use it depends on what brand pad you are using. You want to use a polishing pad, here is the correct pad depending on manufacturer:

Sonus- blue

LC- white

Megs- yellow (W8006).

Here's a link to a thread discussing AIO by PC: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44843&highlight=AIO

Here is Bill North’s SG application guide: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30989&highlight=official+wipe+on+off

Edit: rather than add another message to this thread I'll just add that scottlee, in the next post, has a very valid point for claying your car first.

i didnt see anything mentioned about clay, take a small plastic bag and place your hand inside and glide across the finish, if it doesnt feel smooth as glass it needs to be clayed as well

welcome to autopia :up :up

Nice. You're off to a good start.

Apply AIO by PC, it's recommended by Klasse USA to use a PC over hand application. It's really idiot proof, so no need to practice on the old ladys car. Use a polishing pad on 4-5. Do a section, then remove with a microfiber towel and Sonus quick detailing spray. Sprays with carnauba may inhibit the bonding of the soon to be applied Sealant Glaze.

2.Wait 24 hrs then wash again and apply SG and wait another 24 hrs wash again and put another layer on?

by hand what towels and procedure?

by pc which pads and speed for apply and removal, how long let dry or work into paint?

Sealant Glaze can be applied directly after/over your All-In-One. I like to apply with a yellow foam applicator. Let it sit overnight to cure, then remove Sealant Glaze with a microfiber towel and a quick detailer (Sonus). You can also remove with your PC and a finishing pad.

3.Wait another 24 to 48 hrs and wash again and apply pinnacle?

by hand what towels and procedure (i got the kit with the polishing towels in it)?

by pc which pads and speed for apply and removal, how londg do you let wax work in or dry?

After 24 hours remove Sealant Glaze, then apply Pinnacle. There is no need to rewash car. Provided it's been in the garage and not driven or had a chance to get soiled. Pinnacle is a wipe on, wipe off product. Use another yellow foam applicator. Do a section at a time. You can remove with a quick detailer and a finishing pad with your PC, or by hand with a microfiber towel and a quick detailer.

After this, you may wish to rewax weekly until the desired effect is attained. Be sure to wash the car, or at least thorougly quick detail it before waxing. Good luck. Might be helpful to print this thread out and take it with you.
