Need advice/help..PC7424xp M105/205...pics inside

Pics are the best that I could do, with the camera that I have. But you can still see what I'm dealing with.



Car is 2002 C5 Z06..original paint.

I've dawned the car (x2)

Clayed

M105 w/Orange CCS pad (speed 3 until worked in, then speed 6 full pass)

M205 w/White CCS pad (speed 3 until worked in, then speed 6 full pass)

M205 w/Black CCS pad (speed 3 until worked in, then speed 6 full pass)



When I'm done with each full pass with the 205, when I go to wipe the product off, I run into this problem...I can't get rid of them. I spray the the area with a 50/50 solution and wipe it off with a cobra MF towel. Is this still product on the area or am I scratching the surface? It seems that they follow the way I wipe (if I wipe across, they show up across, if I wipe up and down, they show up and down...hope that makes sense)



So far I'm happy with the 105 as it has done about a 80-85% correction which is what I was shooting for, but as soon as I do the 205 these pop up after wiping the product off. I've tried Meg's quick detailer with no luck. I'm totally lost.

That last picture looks like the clearcoat is going- do you know how much clear is on there or how many mils you have to work with?



Or you have highs and lows.



Not quite sure without being there..someone might have better thoughts on this.



You really aren't being that aggressive though- I used a Flex with wool polishing pad with 105. BTW: the wool polishing pad produced less heat than the foam pads- while working, did you ever hear a "pop" sound on the panel?

Not sure on how much clear..don't have a reader. If I were to guess, I'd say that I still have plenty left. It's been a garage queen it's whole life.



Never heard a pop..not quite sure what you're asking there.



I did follow this up with some wolfgang polish enhancer with a blue pad...seems like it's cleaning it up. Not sure if this is a bandaid or not, but I've seem to got whatever those were, to disappear.
 
What's happening could be anyone's guess, but it sounds like the product is still on the surface. Try an IPA, APC, and/or PrepSol wipedown, see if that works?



To be honest, the pictures don't lend very well to the diagnosis stage. Try getting a shot with a 50/50 taped off with your lights shining on the area for a quick comparison.
 
sounds like what i sometimes get when working with Menzerna products. It's like the oils from the product are still there so when you wipe as you stated the marks are in the direction in which you wipe . . . . . but i have never used M205 so i'm not sure how the polish is and if it is similar in consistency as Menzerna products.
 
I have experienced much the same when polishing with my PCXP and M205 with a white ccs 4" pad. What I do now, is after I polish each panel I then immediately remove the product with my MF, working one panel at a time. If there is still any residue left I use my Blue Mist QD to eliminate this. I then apply my LSP using a blue ccs finishing pad, when the LSP is removed the finish is perfect with no traces or markings of the M205...
 
why are you using speed 3???? that doesnt give you any cut really and is a waste of time. put it on 6 and have at it.

David and I were just talking about this the other day. 205 sometimes doesnt want to come off the paint, so you either have to make a quick pass over it and wipe it off right away, try some QD to remove it.



oh and CCS pads on the PC = no good! You are introducing brand new polish if you apply more pressure at any given point in the buffing cycle, therefore introducing new marring to take out after you have already possibly removed the original marring. Doesnt make sense to me (those pads). I used a couple and threw them out, I'll stick with the classic flat style!
 
Thanks for the tips guys....seems like it's just the oil that is left behind after the 205. My QD isn't really helping out but following it up with some polish enhancer on a blue pad seems to be working.



With the pads....I search and it seemed everyone raved the ccs pads. I guess it was just the flavor of the month. They are working though...like I said I have about 80-85% correction which is what I was shooting for since this is my first time.



Sorry for the pics guys but that's the best the camera will do.
