Need a good tire gauge

Get a good dial gauge. I have one that's made by Victor Inc, I think that's the name, and I got it at Advance Auto. I'm sure most auto parts places carry them. Anyway, it was around $8 and very accurate. I also have a digital gauge from Accutire, but it's a pain in the butt to use. You have to line up the gauge perfectly to get it to read the pressure, my dial gauge has never failed me.

...is widely regarded as one of the best around. It's a bourdon tube style so it tends to be "fragile" if dropped. Very hi accuracy and multiple chuck configurations available.

I use the same one that Showroomlincoln uses...a Victor mechanical dial gauge...kinda looks like a small clock attached to the chuck...I found mine at my local Walmart...

FWIW...just to see the accuracy, I checked the psi's with mine and a digital accutire gauge my buddy has, and the readings came out identical...

Here's the Moroso I have-- I love it:

Description: Premium high-quality instruments with brass internals and Bourdon Tube Pressure Element provide full-range accuracy to within 1/2% Extra-large 4" diameter face and knife-edge pointer eliminate human error Adjustable pointer can be calibrated at the race

An "old timer" mechanic recommended the analog gauge by Brookstone ($13.50). He wasn't lying. I tested it's accuracy against some friends gauges that cost a lot more. The best gauge out there in my opinion, especially for the $$.

I used to have a longacre gauge as well, but lost it or someone stole it. I'd highly recommend those I wish I could find where I left mine.

I have a similar one to that. I like it a lot. Although mine didn't come with that cool case.

Accutire gauges - well-built, very easy to use, and proven accurate and reliable.

Not expensive at all, either. I bought mine for $18 from Autogeek (not even including shipping), and a week later I noticed the same thing at Target for $8. Sigh.

Shillin' ?

I have the same Accutire gauge as BlueLibby and it works fine. Always spot on with the pressure monitoring system in my car but I have THIS on my list.

I just picked up a Craftsman digital tire guage. Its got a lighted screen, LED flashlight on it, and just plain rocks. I'm glad I bought it.

Back in the 80's when I worked at a full service gas station (remember those!) we used Milton tire gauges, they were good, now I have a snap on dial type with hose I inherited (really) and el cheapos pencil type from wallyworld in every car, they work better than not haveing one in the car.
