Need a gallon of carwash. Optimum or Griot's?

Yep sure would. You can use them in your foam cannon or foam gun and in your wash bucket.

Cool deal, ill make sure i pick up some optimum carwash then. Thanks.

But in the meantime, i have some leftovers of eagle 1 wax and shine carwash. Where "supposedly" it has wax in the soap so its like a wash/wax job in one.

That i CANT use as a prewash right?

Technically not if it has something that's supposed to lay down something for protection. I personally would stay away from it anyway. Duragloss 902 should be local as well. So that's a really nice close to OPT option you have as well.

Most shampoos if harsh enough, can start to weaken or altogether eliminate some LSP you have on a vehicle but don't forget after a stronger wash to clay even if its quickly to help remove anything before you polish.

Most carwashes that leave stuff behind leave so *little* behind that it doesn't really matter, especially the way most people clay (somewhat aggressively). Or just give things a wipe with IPA (rubbing alcohol) after the wash but before you clay.

Note that some people like using Griot's SpeedShine as a clay lube, and that stuff leaves wax behind, so it's not *really* all that big a deal most of the time.

But since using a high-quality shampoo can cut down on wash-induced marring, I'd go ahead and find the Duragloss, or even Meguiar's Gold Class. OR check out the local autobody/paint supply store (check the yellowpages) for Meguiar's #62, which is what I used prior to Griot's.

Then use up your Eagle1 on wheels/wheelwells/etc. That's what I do with my also-ran shampoos.

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!

Thanks for the welcome!!

Yeah i have about 1/3 of the gallon jug left so i mean its not a big of a deal, i can always buy something else or whatever. I just hate throwing good stuff out lol. I mean i also have 2 cars and i do my familys cars when i get a chance because i like cleaning cars.

I guess when the time comes for me to do the job, ill be ready. Im really OCD of how i do my procedure and this site helped me alot. I did alot of reading of the different methods and products different people use so i guess its all personal preference. I just need any help i can so an easy mistake can be prevented if a mistake was to come.

A pic of the car thats gonna get the job done in spring

Thanks. Lots of similarities when you think about it. Both cars were designed to be lightweight, with the motor close to the middle of the car for better balance. Both have small motors, and use forced induction. :bigups

Can't beat PFS!

Yup, although the exige is amazing. My friend let me ride with him about 2 years ago and it was amazing.

Although i still love my FD, as much smack people talk about it. I take care of it and so far, 6 trouble free years aside from minor minor hiccups.

The attention i get with this car is unreal. I just love rare cars. Im sure the attention you get is unreal too. I know it makes you happy cause it makes me happy lol

Great looking RX-7's .... Rob that car is spotless!!! ....

Wish they would turbo the 8 ...

BTW +1 Duragloss

Nice RX-7s...wish I had a pic of Accumulatorette's 3rd Gen. to add to this thread, she drove one before she got her first Audi.

IIRC the paint was very chip-prone. What I *really* remember is that I didn't fit in it, couldn't heel & toe the thing at all.

Thanks, I really liked the 7 a lot, and tried to take care of it.

I also owned an RX-8, and completely agree about wishing that they would slap a turbo (or two) on that rotary.

Heh, if you thought the RX-7 was tight, you would *never* fit in my Lotus! :nervous:

Yeah, I can't say that I *don't* like the attention! ;)

I do get more of it in the Lotus. I get tons of questions about it when getting gas etc. I used to get a fair number of questions when I had the 7 too, like "how many cylinders does it have"? When I told them "none", they looked at me like I was crazy!
