neatitems mf towels "linting" on my windows.

Today while cleaning my windows with my Stoners IG and my mf towels. I noticed that there was a "Residue" bieng left behind by the towel.

What it was, was actually very little fibers of the mf towel shedding on the window.

Anyone have any idea on a remedy? I know people have used diapers and newspapers for the window but I am not into that especially on my tint.

Maybe its just my towels/windows. I will try to clay my windows and then clean them and see if it still happens.

I had the exact problem with Stoner IG and Neatitem MFs! They're a pain when light hits 'em!! Anyway, I just went back over it with IG and dried with newspaper. It actually worked really well, and didn't do a thing to my tinted windows!!!:xyxthumbs

Hi everyone, this is such a great forum I have been reading it for quite awhile now but I wanted to ask a question here if you do not mind... is it safe to use micro fiber towels on the tinted windows? What do you think? I tried Invisible Glass w/ my micro fiber towels on the windows this last weekend and I swear I can see teeny little scratches now and I don't know if it is the IG or the towels.

Thanks! debbie

I've never had a problem with the neatitems towels linting. Did you wash them first?

As for mf on tinted windows, I've been using them for a few years now on my windows without any noticable scratches. I always use one wet mf followed by a dry one. I don't use any cleaner, just water.

Thx Prinz, I used 2 mf towels also, just one of them had Invisible Glass on it instead of water. Maybe I will try just water next time and see if I notice any more teeny scratches. I just wasn't sure if the mf was a problem as they have a kinda "weird" texture.

Maybe it was my imagination and the little marks were always there, but I don't think so. thx again debbie

I would definitely recommend washing your mf towel first when you first buy them. So the loose micro fibers can be washed away. Next, I would follow-up with your initial mf towel with the Stoner IG with another dry mf towel. I find that this works the best because the dry towel will actually pick-up any loose fibers that may have dislodged from the 1st mf towel. I find that plain water works just as good or better than any chemical with a couple of mf towels. Try it and I think you'll like it.

Take care.

You may want to try using CMA's Viper Glass Cleaning Cloth instead of a regular mf cloth as they are constructed differently.

From CMA's Microfiber - What's the big deal? page:

The Viper Microfiber Glass Cleaning Cloth.[/b] This is a high grade, 80/20 blend of Polyester and Polyamide specially designed to clean glass. Standard Microfiber cloths use fibers that are “hooked on the ends. These hooks actually “scrape across the surface grabbing and holding dirt particles and surface films. The Viper Glass Cleaning Cloth’s fibers are “feathered on the end, not “hooked. This produces a cloth with substantially greater absorption. Grime and oily films are vacuumed off the surface by capillary action.

The Viper Glass Cleaning Cloth cleans glass and plastic surfaces better than any other Microfiber product except the Magic Towel and leaves less droplet residues. The cloth can be used wet, with just water, or dry with your favorite glass cleaning solution. This cloth should not be used for general detailing or removing wax or polish residues. This would clog the fiber ends and damage the cloth’s effectiveness.

I own the Viper Glass Towels and they too leave lint on my windshield. What I do is apply Stoner IG, wipe with a damp MFT and then finish up with a small all cotton towel. My windshield is invisible!

I've used newspaper on my exterior windscreens. They work fine because the chemicals on the newsprint actually helps in cleaning the glass (don't know why, but it feels that way). I don't use newspaper for the glass on the interior because I've huper optik (heat resistant film) on the insides. For that, I just use a soft damp cloth.

I've been using neatitems and don't have that linting problem. I had it before when using the cotton towels but not with mf.
