Natural Look & Convertible Tops

Steve,

I remember you telling me at the detail day that Natural look was ok to use on my convertible top!

2 weeks ago I did exactly that being that it was time for me to re-protect the top. (I do that every month - month 1/2) I scrubbed the roof with my soft bristeled brush and allowed it to dry over night. The next day I went over the roof with a terry aplicator and NL the car was in the sun...after application I went back 2 hrs later and re-applied... after another 2 hrs I went back with a terry towel and wiped it down again with just a clean terry towel to remove any excess!

The top looks awesome! It looks darker, and has an awesome shine to it.

So now the problem....The first time I washed my car I had the exxon valdeez in my driveway! I had an oily coating over the top of my car and window from the NL. Now this came as no suprise due to the fact that this would even happen to me with 303... however after the first rain/wash that was it...Last night it rained again....(for the 3rd time) and my car is once agiain an Oil slick....Have any Ideas as to whats going on here?

Thanks for the help!

I would not use Natural Look on the exterior at all. I think I would use Trim Restorer on a top.

Sounds like you may have use a little too much on the initially...a very small amount brushed into the vinly and then thoroughly buffed with a cotton towel would be the best way to help prevent what happened.
Try taking a soft brush over it again and the buff again to loosen any dirt or product on the top...

yes you could use Trim Restorer on the roof, but I prefer using something more gentle and with cleaning ability, especially if you plan on keeping a car.
For a trade in or leased vehicle, definitely Trim Restorer.;)

Thanks Steve!

Ill try that out and let you know how I make out!

When using 303 by this time the roof went back to its normal flat black color. But with the NL it still has a nice shine! I like watching the water bead up on it. It almost looks like I have Nattys on my roof!

As Steve said more in this case is not a good thing.
Good Luck
