Nattys w/PC update

My black Tahoe had 2 coat's of EX over P/wc and 1 coat of Nattys by hand. Last night I tried something like stated in my earlier post about putting it (Nattys) on with a PC. I took out the wax frme the container and put a plastic wrap type of product under it and put it back in the container. I could then pull it up to the surface of the container and smear on to a LC finish pad. (like a deod. stick). It does not take much on the pad and it does go along way. You have to be careful on how much you put on the pad because it can come out to heavy and be a little harder to remove . I tried it purposly heavy on a 2x2 section of the hood and it tokk a little more elbow grease to remove. The rest I thinner like I would with the hand applicator and came of just as easy as doing by hand.

All in all it worked really well. I'm glad I'm able to use a paste wax with a PC. The final result's were outstand IMO. It was deep and dripping wet looking . I think a deff. improvement over the hand application method. I've done it before alway's with the PVA applicator's and it worked out great but this was just the icing on the cake.

Sorry no pic's .....and naturally it started rain about 1/2 hour after I pulled it out of the garage last night, but if I get time I'll throw another coat on today.

BTW , the PC was set on a slow speed and also seemed to hide micro marring very well.

Just givin ya my thought's....FG

Fallguy,

Excellent! The PC does make it pretty easy.

On a side note, if you want to really go crazy, get youself a Meguiar's cutting pad for the PC. Then get a couple of DFTowel or Meguiar's bonnets for the PC. Use the bonnets over the cutting pad to "remove" Natty's (or any wax). IMHO, it really adds a little "something" to the finished look.

Boss,

I'll check into it , good idea !!.

I just cleaned it up a bit and hit it with some S&G .......OMG !!! Wettest, deepest it's ever looked. That doing it by PC made a big diff. IMO.

I have done this myself with the cutting pad and bonnet, just to play with my new PC and have fun making the finish look superb. I only detail my own cars for a hobby so I can piddle around all I want. After reading these posts, I now wonder how S&G would do if buffed out by a PC. I'll have to try it sometime. I don't know if you could improve on the result done by hand....I love that stuff. I'm glad to see the plastic wrap suggestion worked for another member...it has the added benefit of keeping the top of the wax round flat, so that an even coat is applied to either a PC pad or hand applicator, which I really like.

Yes , that was a great little tip you have me mtwedt. It worked out great !!
You're most welcome. As much as I'd like to take full credit for the idea, I can't. The original idea came from DavidB at Autopia on his car care CD. He loosened a round of wax (I think it was Souveran) onto his gloved hand and spread a single circle on his PC pad. I didn't have a glove (the type he used was like those in doctor's offices) so I modified his approeach with plastic wrap and it came out better than I expected. You don't have to keep or find a clean glove that way. I wonder if paste wax manufacuters have ever considered put out their products in a "stick of deodorant" type container. It certainly lets you use the product more efficiently and economically whether applied by hand or PC.

I like this idea :beer

It's been thought of, but wax is poured very hot and would melt the mechanism to allow it to move freely:dunno

That's true , and beside's I'd hate to leave the house every morning with a coat of Nattys under my arm's by mistake :rolling

Anyway I still look at the truck and can't believe the shine !!

Steve; This could be a great idea, with this type of applicator, wax would be put directly on the pad of PC. Look at wwwsurluster.com, they have a similar type of applicator. JP Nusbaum/Maryland

Maybe Steve should make a liquid version of Natty's........ that would solve the problem easily. :D :dunno

wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose of having a paste wax:confused:

Well....... it is a "carnauba" wax. Some people like paste, some like liquid. Those who like to use a PC to apply it may find the liquid much easier.

You could call it "Natty's Liquid Wax".......... pretty clever..... aren't I? :lmfao :rolling
