Hello Autopian, especially Don,

This is my review of Pinnacle Paste Glaz.

The test subject is a 1992 Toyota Camry with a beige colored paint. It has been previously treated in late July with Klasse AIO, on coat, and Klasse SG 3 coats. On the first week of August, I put one coat of Souveran on, then a week later put on a coat of Blitz. I left it that way for two weeks, no washing, just a qucik dusting every other day for one week. The other week I let it get dirty because I was busy. The paint was in good condition, basic rock chips and light swirls here and there. I washed with Meguiars Gold CLass one and a half ounces to 4 gallons. Not really interested in getting it fixed because its going to be given to me in a few years and I'll work on it then! ok, ok, I'll do a major detail next spring.

The weather was at 70 degrees at 9PM. I let my god aunt, who owns the car, wax the rest of it after I did 1/3 of the hood and the front fender. After she was done, hey I trained her to wax well, I waited until 12PM the next morning/afternoon to apply a second coat and observe the results.

I applied the second coat to the entire car in less than 20 minutes. It went on like Souveran, which is pretty easy. Then the buffing off part. WOW! it was so easy a few wipes and it was off. Easier than Souveran or Blitz and no buffing, just wipping.

Results,

Really shiny and slick, like someone dipped it in glass. Wasn't quite as deep as Blitz, but more reflective. Like a mirror at certain angles. The Blitz performed very well, but I like the ease of use of Paste Glaz better, no time letting it dry to a frost and ruining the trim on the lower panels of the car. The feeling of the finish was like Souveran but did not have that certain POP I notice with Souveran, wasn't as deep, but Paste Glaz was more shiny and easier to remove.

I rate it 10 out of 10 for now, I know its not durable, but it applies in about the same time as OG Show Off. Also its much cheaper than Souveran. The results are almost the same, the Souveran has more pop.

Light colored car with money to spend but not willing to get Souveran and willing to wax every few weeks - Pinnacle Paste Glaz.

Looking for durability- Blitz

Shine, a little more durable, and willing to spend, Souveran.

Hope this helps anyone make a good decision in carnauba waxes!

Hey Jason, very good review. I especially like the fact that your findings are identical to mine. Hehe! If you look at Tim's old forum, I mention the exact same observations. Pinnacle Paste Glaze is a breeze to apply and buff out. It shines a bit more than Blitz but doesn't offer the depth of Blitz. And of course Souveran seems to offer the best of both worlds. All things considered, the Paste Glaze is an awesome wax. This is precisely why I suggested to just invest in the Paste Glaze instead of another can of Souveran for now. It's half the price and it is so much fun to work with. Again, great thorough review Jason. You are becoming quite the seasoned detailer. Laters.

Thanks for the compliment! Didn't check out Tim's forum in a while, gotta go swing by there later.

As for the Paste Glaz and Souveran, the Paste Glaz is not mine, I gave it to my god aunt who uses it on her camry. She washes it once a month and give a coat of Paste Glaz. Much better than before, where she washed it 2-4 times a year. I still have my trusty Souveran and Blitz.

I woun't be investing in another can of Souveran for a couple of years. That can lasts a long time, I barely used any yet, even though I haved waxed about 5-7 cars with it. The same can of Souveran I have will probably be used to wax my first car in a few years.

I am getting higher in the hobby of detailing, much better than when I first started, but still a long way to go before I become perfect like many of you super duper seniors and experienced ones out there like snake, Brad B., you (Don), DETAILKING, Ron Ketcham, beau (where the heck is he, the last time I saw him post was the whole BO and SO thread) and anyone else I missed.

Thanks again for the good reply and compliments, along with giving me the heads up on the Paste Glaz.

Jason - good review! So if I was happy with my Blitz, but wanted something similar but easier to apply, would you say Paste glaz is about the best option? I don't want to cough up the dough for souveran, but I might be able to convince myself to get the glaz! Again, thanks for the information!

Steve

Yes Paste Glaz and Blitz are similar in terms of results, Blitz offers more depth/warmth that Paste Glaz lacks but Paste GLaz equals hat with more reflectivity and shine. I would say Paste Glaz has a very short life span, 3-4 weeks on average IMHO, but it is so easy to apply its like QD'ing every few weeks. For sure you know Blitz lasts much longer. But no waiting to dry and non of that gosh darn trim residue.

So sure for a light colored car I would recommend Paste Glaz if you can bring yourself up to make the purchase. But I think the price is well worth it, probably can get 30-40 applications on a camry from this one can. So roughly $1 per coat.

Jason

Totally agree. The Pinnacle Paste Glaze is an excellent wax. I would highly recommend it to others. As mentioned earlier, most of us tend to agree that it gives a bit more shine than Blitz but is not as durable. Laters.

Jimmy Johnson has just won the NASCAR Championship for the 4th CONSECUTIVE year! It's never been done in NASCAR history, 61 years.

That's a race car driver. (It's nice to see a champion whose humble.):o

Congratulations Jimmy! Well deserved!:clap::biggrin:

Been a 48 fan for a long time, it's flat out amazing what he's accomplished in his short time in the sport.

Got his break right up the road in St. Joe Missouri with the Herzog boys.

People complain that he's a "boring" champion but I like that he's just a humble, respectful dude. Nice work #48!!

Yeah congrats to JJ, but I'd love to see Nascar change the format from the boring, politically correct crap they show each week. And I got to wonder what Jeff Gordon's thinking now.

Here's my idea for next year, burn the rule book - put the rules on a single sheet of paper, make it be height, weight, length and safety only. Points: 100 extra for finishing first, 20 for leading the most laps, 15 for winning the pole and anything after 35th place gets the same number of points.

That makes too much sense.

I think my Nascar days are way behind me. Now that Bill France is holding talks with VW , I'm sure of it. They lost me with their playoff series and the COT . JJ has done something to be proud of but you can still find me at the local bull ring on sat nights.:(

The VW meeting was in relation to the Grand Am Series, not NASCAR. Since the France family controls both racing series, and everyone was in S. Florida for the championship weekend, it made sense to have a meeting there. Nothing more to the story than that.

As for the local short track, good for you. Race fans need to support their local grassroots racing organizations, instead of buying more Dale Jr collectibles.

I was refering to the article in Yahoo news and a few others mentioning both of the series which did say that Grand Am series was more suited to VW but Nascar was open to additional brands for the stock car series as long as they had plants in the USA. Most say do to the economy this may slow the process down no mattter what is to happen.
