Name the product that surprised you [for good or bad]

Best:

Duragloss Aquawax - I buy it by the gallon now, just flat out awesome stuff! You're missing out if you don't use it.

Collinite 845 - Stuff's as durable as concrete, glides onto the paint like butter and looks fantastic

Duragloss #111 - Truly is "wet look"

ONR - What's there left to say that hasn't been said before?

Opti-Bond Tire Gel - I cut it 1:1 and put it in a spray bottle and spray it on an applicator. One application makes tires look nice and black (not shiney) and the durability is pretty good.

Duragloss AquaWax - I have to agree with the post above. I purchase it by the gallon. It's fool-proof (no streaking, etc.), leaves a very nice shine, and provides pretty good durability for a spray wax.

Leather Masters Leather Vital - I purchased this based on the fact that Scottwax uses the heck out of it. While not cheap, I'm surprised how much I like it. It's the first leather product I've used that's not greasy.

Optimum Protectant Plus - Seems to really condition the vinyl and leaves a low sheen. Looks very rich.

Sprayway Glass Cleaner - Another detailer buddy of mine gave me a canister of this stuff. I'm not halfway through it and it has quickly become my new favorite glass cleaner over Meg's Detailer line and Stoner IG.

My basis for this thread is on a ratio of performance/price

ONR enough said about this versatile product

No Streek window polish inexpensive product that applies like a wax and leaves window spotless

Turtle Wax Express Wax cheap spray wax that is easy to apply and lasts quite a long time

Collinite IW845 IMO best wax for longevity and priced reasonably

HD Free great waterless wash product that has many uses

Klasse AIO great AIO that can be used as a paint cleaner and provides a nice foundation

for a LSP

I bought some OLD Armor All Natural Finish protectant from a farm and ranch store chain that has a store here. It was marked down really, really.really cheap so I gave it a shot. It was so old the bottle had a blue label on it. I used it on tires and in the interior of our cars, and it left a perfect finish on the tires! Nice and black with a just a little shine as well, and it left a nice semi-gloss finish on dashboards. The store had another bottle left, and I don't know why I didn't buy it. AA's Extreme Tire Gel is wonderful as well.

Megs Ultimate Quik Wax is awesome for something you can buy at Wally-World. It has awesome durability and looks for a great price. Not quite Z8 level, but it's about half the cost. Same thing with Duragloss AW! What a bargain, and I just found out recently one of our parts stores here carries a lot of Duragloss products.

Surf City Hot Rod Protective Detailer is awesome! I think I like it even better than Zaino's QD. It adds depth, shine, and it makes your paint amazingly slick. It really seems to help keep dust off the car as well. I like the Speed Demon spray wax too. It leaves a killer carnauba glow with lots of depth! It doesn't seem to be very durable though. For some reason it kills the beading of whatever I put it on top off. Same thing for their Pacific Blue wash!! It leaves an amazing finish, but it affects the water beading of whatever LSP I'm using.

My parents always get me a Megs gift set for Christmas. The sets for 2009 had NXT 2.0 in them, and they got marked down so cheap I bought another one. I had heard mixed reviews on 2.0,but the deal was too good to pass up. I finally got around to using some of it a month or so ago. The durability is not that great, but I love how it looks on both white and red. It buffed off easily also. A bottle of 2.0 is 15 bucks or so,and I got two entire gift sets for 10 bucks! You can't argue with that.

Eagle One wheel and tire cleaner. It kicks butt! Strong and gentle at the same time! It beats the crap out Westley's. I grew up killing my brain cells with that stuff.

Good....

ONR-for obvious reasons, as everyone has said.

DG AW- same as above

Megs UC- fantastic OTC product

Eagle 1 A2Z Wheel&Tire cleaner- same as above

Megs 34- great for stubborn polish removal, thanks Accumulator for this one.

Bad.....

CG Diablo Wheel Gel-not sure what it's good for, because wheels are NOT it's thing.

PC XP- An OK machine as long as you don't compare it to anything else.

EZ-Detail/Daytona wheel brush-when paired with CG Diablo, brake dust has nothing to fear. And then it breaks. :mad1:

Good: Griot's Garage 6" Orbital Polisher... traded in my PCXP for it and will never go back, more control and power in the Griot's. If you take into account that the GG model comes with a backing plate, its the same price as a PCXP.

Good:

Flew 3401 -used to have a PC but it just didn't do it for me

Autoglym HD wax -stuff looks awesome as well as easy on/off

Leatherique -pleasure working with the stuff and clients are always 100% happy with the results

Menzerna SIP -there are so many ways to work this stuff. I am sssssso happy to have it.

Commercial electric pressure washer -it's so nice to have low noise when you're working with a pressure washer all day.

1z Anti Insekt -stuff works great and is priced well (though the sprayer could be better/atomize better)

ONR use it for a lot of things, glass, interior wipe down, not so dirty wheels

Four Star UPP with Polycharger, incredibly easy to apply and remove, super slick, looks great so far has been holding up well

Mez 203 great 1 step

Bilt Hamber Finis wax easy on and off, looks great, so far has been holding up 5 months

Prima Amigo all around great glaze

Optimum Opti Seal one of my all time favs

Buff and Shine pads

Chemical Guys DA backing

Meg MF cutting disc

Car Pro Iron X

Dodo Clay

I have used a lot of new things this year so far have been pleasantly impressed

Best

Leatherique

The whole Zaino Line but especially the Tire Gloss

Brown Royal Wheel cleaner - buy it by the drum

ONR

Optimum QD

Worst

ZCS

Imperial hand Glaze

Flash Tire Gloss

The two I could not live without

ONR

Brown Royal

Out of everything I have, I could not live without both of these products. I use the Brown Royal for literally everything... indoors, outdoors, cars, lawn equipment, wheels

ONR leaves the car with a just detailed look after every wash. I also use it as a quick interior detailer, glass cleaner, and clay lube.

DG

Good:

Leatherique - Got stains out of my seat a magic eraser (I Know, I know) couldn't get. Wonderful smell. OEM looking finish.

Meguair's Ultimate Quick Detailer - Leaves a wonderfully smooth finish and fills in minor swirls and absolutely no streaks. Can be applied in the sun. A blessing for my mother's black car. I don't have time to fully correct it again and it leaves a great finish.

Bad:

Ultima Paint Guard PREP - UPGPlus is superb, but the prepping "polish" for it I did not like. Very greasy and streaky.

Meguair's Leather Cleaner (2003? vintage) - Left a bunch of white paste in the perferations of the seat. It applied like toothpaste and dried the same way.

So far, I like:

Grit Guards - what a simple, yet great idea!!

BFWD - goes on and comes off quick and clean

ONR - no explanation required

Opti Bond tire gel - nice black finish w/o too much gloss, no sling, durable, and the 1:1 dilution makes the product go a long way

Griot's DA polisher - lots of power for a good price and a heck of a warranty

Optimum leather/protectant plus - I don't use on my leather because I use Leather Masters, but this leaves a great matte finish on vinyl/trim

Don't like:

PC DA - vibrates your hands numbs (after I used the Griot's, there is absolutely no going back)

Stoner's tire shine - tried to give it a chance several times, but it literally looks like you put nothing on the tire once it dries

Tell us what product knocked your socks off with how great it was. Or, tell us how overrated a product was.

I have tried many car polishes over the years, and I used to be in the car detailing business. I won't use waxes, just polishes that bond to the car's finish and protects for a long long time between applications. The absolute best that I found and will only and always use is Polyshield Car Polish (and Pre-Cleaner), which I buy at www.polyshieldproducts.com. It truly kicks butt - it makes my cars always look like brand new and it protects my cars for months from dirt, tar, bugs, salt, brake dust, everything.

Gotta love those polishes that bond to the paint surface :twitch:

Good ones:

Victoria Concours Red. I can't figure out how a carnauba like this can look so good and last so long.

Tarminator. I giggled when I first sprayed it on tar on the wife's car and it just melted away.
