Mytee Lite II - low heat?

I just got my extractor in yesterday and its working well so far.

However i've noticed that even though the water in the tank is hot, the solution being sprayed out is barely warm at all. I'm using a 5:1 ratio water/Megs APC.

Could it just be foaming too much and its carrying more foam than hot water?

I wouldn't use the all purpose cleaner through your extractor. It is best to use just plain water or a rinsing agent. I use Prochem All Fiber Rinse through my Mytee extractor.

The water should be getting pretty hot, almost too hot to touch. It will take a little while for the water to completely heat up, you need to spray it for a little while and get all of the cold water out of the lines. I just spray it back into the solution tank until the water coming out is really hot.

Plain water only? That doesn't seem like it will do much for baked on stains or oils of any kind. Wouldn't you need some kind of cleaner? APC is all I have right now, what else would you recommend?

Apply the cleaner/chemical directly to the fabric and agitate as needed. Use plain water in the solution tank to run through the heater/pump as a rinse/extraction fluid.

I use stain specific spotters. Before I clean the carpets I pretreat wtih ProChem Ultrapac Traffic Lane Cleaner and agitate the carpets and floor matts with a brush first. This will breakup up the stains and soiled areas and then you just use the extractor to suck up everything. The All Fiber Rinse helps get all of the chemicals out of the carpet, leaves the fibers looking new and helps everything dry quicker.

For cloth seats and upholstery I use Prochem Upholstery Cleaner. Same thing with this, just spray on, agitate with a brush and then extract.

Ok I will try plain water in it. But now I have a new problem...

Right in the middle of extracting, the machine switched off of vacuum and started blowing! I don't see any external control to switch it back either. The instructions are pathetic and although it says you can connect the hose to the blower port for drying, it doesn't say how to change it. I've cleaned out the recovery tank but now my brand new extractor is useless.... What do I do?

Once your recovery tank gets too full it will shut off the vacuum. If there is a lot of foam it will cause this too. Sometimes the float will stick and i just take a hose and spray in there and it fixes it.

Yeah that was it. So its working again... but I'm not convinced on the heater yet...

I just filled it with hot water, and I'm letting it preheat now... However this morning I put cold water in, let it heat for over an hour and it was still ice cold. So now that it has hot water from the tap in it, if its not super hot in the next 20 min, something is wrong i guess?

If I recall, you have to turn on BOTH the heater and the pump switches to heat the water. Are you just putting on the heat switch?

its because it has an inline heater, meaning the water in the tank does not heat up, as it passes through the system it goes by 1 or 2 heating elements depending on the machine and thats how it gets its heat. If the water is cold, likely the heaters wont heat it to a desirable temp. Best advice is to put the hottest water you can get in the tank. If the water is hot to begin with the heaters will have an easier time keeping up. This is the exact reason i went with a coil heated machine this time around.\

if you look on page 3 of the manual it should tell you to fill with at least 140 degree water.

The instructions say that once you get hot water in the lines, to let it sit for an additional 5+ min to continue heating though...

It should heat to the advertised temp. I have the Mytee HP60 (advertised temp of 210 degrees) and whether I put hot or cold water into it, it still heats up well. The colder water obviously takes longer to heat than the warmer water. As stated, it has an inline heater. That could be your problem. If I let mine sit for a while, and see the water in the tank start to get cold, I recycle the water to re-heat it.

About the shutting off, I have had that happen on occasion when foam collects around the filter. I just grab the shop vac and vac the foam off of the filter and it's back to work.

I also just use plain water in mine. I spray the chemical right onto the carpet, scrub and then extract. If using a solution in the machine, you may want to consider using a defoaming additive to your solution so it doesn't clog any parts of the machine, and I would also recommend using the system maintenance cleaner to clean any parts after extracting with soap in the machine.

I'm actually getting the same problem with mine, no heat whatsoever, sat for 30 mins and nothing. I'll be calling mytee first thing tomorrow. I've owned this unit for about 6 months and have about 3 months left on my warranty so i'm sure mytee will help me with this. They have replaced my machine twice and a couple pumps on the unit I have right now. I just have terrible luck with this thing. It sure gives me peace of mind knowing mytee always takes care of me.

I just realized I have the HP60 as well.... I ordered a Mytee Lite II though... whats the difference?

you have the better machine if you have the 60!!!

i had the same issues with mine. I rarely use it anymore, so I could really care less at this point. I did loan it out and the guy really like it and it worked fine for him. Go figure~!
