Mysterious SG HAZE

X-MAN- Glad it worked out. I guess whenever you have a problem with SG I'll just tell you to let it cure longer ;)

4DSC- Intentionally creating the haze? Heh heh, [insert smart-aleck comment about my lack of free time here]. Talk about an inquiring mind!

raymond_ho2002-Yep, it would strip the SG.

YoSteve- I think you and I must be the only people who think SG is SOOO easy to use, huh?

I used to get the "haze" with SG as well, but don't seem to get it anymore. Things I'm doing differently now are, 1) No more QD/water spritzes to aid in removal. 2) Use coats so thin that you can't even see it on black except under intense halogen lighting. 3) Letting SG dry a little longer and sometimes letting it bake under the sun for a while, 4) I'm buying my Klasse now from YoSteve (Most important factor).

I used to think KSG was a pain to buff off without a damp towel, but it's not all that difficult anymore since changing my technique.....plus, no more haze.

For all the times I've used SG I had a haze problem once and I traced it to my application. I just didn't let it cure long enough before applying next coat and it was a cold day back in late November.

I think that Pat meant 1 hour drying time before buffing, not cure time. It takes much longer to cure and a lot depends on weather conditions.

How many layers did you put on and how long was your drying and cure time?

Yeah, I'm almost certain it didn't cure long enough. 4 layers in less than a week. (too much) Shortest drying time was 2hrs. longest was 6hrs. Most layers were 5-6 hrs drying time. Curing time: about 24 hrs each layer. I've never put down that many layers in less than a week. (never got the haze either)

Acumulator,

yeah, yeah, yeah,:D I know, I know.

Intermezzo,

bake in the sun?? Before or after you remove it??

YoSteve,

I don't use any QD on removal...just a damp & dry MF.

LowTech,

I very seldom use AIO. This SG went on top of the old BF afpp.

NHBFAN,

I'm with YoSteve, I got to have my KSG! It holds up TOOO GOOD!
