mysterious dents

this isnt really detailing but i guess it relates to being more obvious with a clean car. Over the past 2 weeks i have seen small dings forming on my hood... my parents think i crazy for making a big deal about it but when its clean they really bother me... theres about 7 on there now and it keeps growing. do u guys have ANY idea what they can be coming from? not many things that drop from trees can cause dents like that so im really confused, they just started showing up one day. i live in NJ, its always been parked outside by my dad, and it just started happening 2 weeks ago. Its not parked in a new spot, been parking on the raod at school for about 2 months and no problems. They are not big enough to be seen directly from above, but on a angle its scary. Any ideas?

more than likely this is your problem. someone or something there, I always avoid parking my car on a road unless I can watch it. Rocks from the freeway or something from a tree, perhaps a cat (unlikely) are my only possible explanations.

Does your hood flex when you use the pc?

I have a truck, and the hood will pop in and out if i apply too much pressure....cheap chevy's....

Do you use california waterblade? If that flips while using puts a small dings. Happened once to me and I could not figure out how the dent came there and then realised I might have used blade carelessly.

to hadboosttroy, that deff could be the problem. everyone in my grade parks on this road on a residential road, could be something from there but i really dont know. none of the dents really have a scratch mark like a rock hit so i dont know

to JBM, i have yet to use the PC, just got it an its sitting in my garage. it could very well be maybe i buffed to hard when taking off a wax by hand but these are very small dings. i dont remember the hood popping in so i dont know

an to jogan, ive only used it once, after a light wash to glide some water off. i stopped though because some buds from trees started to fall on the hood so i did a few swipes and called it quits. do u mean the handle hitting it makes a dent? cause i dont see how the blade can.

also is there any way to repair them? they look like they could be lightly hammered out from the inside of the hood but i dont know if thats reccomended

An increase in reflectivity can cause "invisible" dings to become noticable, and once your attention is focused, you see more...

so ur saying they were there the whole time? the day i washed and waxed i didnt see them, maybe i didnt look close enough but i am usually pretty observant. you dont really see them when the cars covered with pollent so that could be the reason

Actually that was only a suggestion. I had something like that happen to me with my hood. The greater reflectance caused me to notice what seemed to be small defects to a greater degree due to the effect that the reflected (field) image was brighter, more detailed. I could see a finer distinction between a clear undistorted reflection and a small ding. Also my door had a couple small dings that were more noticeable than before. I was just suggesting a possible reason that new defects are suddenly noticable.
