My Vroom experience at Target. Made out awesome!

I stopped into my local Target to check out the new Vroom merchandise. Basically it's Baja Sol rebadged in much nicer marketing material. It's for budget minded folks or for those who need grunge work MF's. But, I give Target props for putting together a nice selection of products for those who maybe can not afford more expensive detailing accessories or who can't order online.

However, one product caught my eye. It's the large microfiber drying towel at 6.5sq ft. 23.5 inch x 40 inch. This sucker is basically a bath towel!

I like it because it feels EXACTLY like the Viking drying towel MF that is 1/4 the size. DavidB used to sell them. I have a few and they're my favorite drying towel. They are just as plush and thick and when folded, they are like a pillow. I was very impressed.

So I decided to buy one; just one. They are $7.99 a piece. Here is where it gets interesting. I go to the checkout counter. The store is like empty. She rings up the towel; no price. She tries again; no price. It isn't in the system she tells me. She walks over to the customer service department and the woman behind the counter says, "Oh, that's 12 pack flannel rags. It's $2.38." (An obvious mistake) Well, my eyes grew wide when she walked back as I was anxious to see if my ears were correct in what I heard. Since nobody was behind me, I calmly asked the woman if I may get a couple more towels (my moral dilema lasting all of 2 seconds). She said sure. So I walked around the corner and sprinted like a fool down the store, grabbed 7 more towels (to make 8 all together) and raced back to the line. She checked them out, I paid and flew out the store. So instead of paying $63.92, I paid $19.04!

I've often thought about using a MF towel as a bath towel. But then I remember how much I paid for the things, and decide my paint is worth more than my skin :D At least it doesn't scratch as easily! :waxing:

Good deal ya got there!

Spilchy, the same thing happened to me the other day when I bought the sheepskin wash mitt. When the person scanned the mitt it came up with no price.

I've actually retired some of my white 100% cotton bath towels that I was using prior to the MF era's beginnings, and now they're used in the bathroom. :D

I'm waiting for a better technology than MF to come along, I'll retire my MFs to the bathroom :p

they (target) also have some ww's that feel exactly like the cobra & megs ones i have. no difference at all but the name....

Yep, as a Target clearance shopper for over 2 years, I can tell you that they will do stuff like that a lot, lol. Just last week they had 6 detailing cloths (not MF, but lint free... for interior mostly) on clearance for $1.50, originally $8 or something. Well, the packages were all ripped appart and there was only one that actually had a label, instead of just loose rags. To make a long story short, I got 19 rags for a total of $1.50, lol.

I bought one of those drying towels last week... except under the baja sol name. Exact same towel. I paid $4.50 on clearance (only one left), so you definatley made out a lot better than I did!

Definitely falls under questionable ethics category! But, what do I know, I'm just a physician!

LOL! Now we know why Spilchy has that whole basement full of detailing supplies! We were all looking at that thinking he had thousands of $$ worth of products. Now we know the secret! I have gone through the pictures, and applying the same discount as he received @ Target, all of his supplies cost him a grand total of $38.97. :D

Nice score......:xyxthumbs

That towel kinda reminds me of the Microtek towel they sell at Walmart for like $6.00....

Looks and sounds exactly like the MicroTex drying towel. Nice towels, I think.

Don't use a microfiber cloth in place of a cotton wash cloth. Talk about leaving your skin sensitive! The traits that make microfiber so appealing for car care use makes it uncomfortable for use on skin, IMO.

I went to Sears today to return a hose I got on sale for $24. They credited my card back $45 (the full price). I exchanged for a 50 foot $20 hose and the balance went to my credit card.

So I got a free hose and $25 back on my card! :xyxthumbs

If people are stupid, I can't help that. I'm not out to correct other people's mistakes. They have a duty of care to do their jobs right. I did have a 2 second moral dilema as I indicated!

Karma? Not in my religion.

I just have to figure out where to put those towels now! When folded they take up an entire drawer. :p

I'll keep you posted on how well they do.

Oh, very funny kompressornsc :rofl :lol

I just went to target and got one to try it out. It looks and feels of good quality. They also had some other nice microfibers and a microfiber glass cleaning towel that looked good too.

Lucky b@stard....

I picked up about 10 items @ Lowe's last night. I was 'in need of facilities', so I just paid quick & left, not even checking my receipt. Total came out to $46. Just doing the math in my head, I had over $90 worth of stuff. I have no idea what happened...

I'm not into intentionally ripping businesses off, but I'm not going to take all the stuff back (30 minutes away) and have them try to figure it out.

When I worked there about 4 years ago, their system was set up to give you the lowest recent sales price for returns without a receipt. Sounds like something changed since then....
