COME AT ME BRO
Got a chance to try S&G out this weekend as well as some other Poorboy's stuff that's new to me. I would write a "more official" review, but I think there's enough out there about them. I just want to give my thoughts on S&G.
I have been an avid user of Adam's Detail Spray ever since I got it, so I guess my thoughts may be a direct comparison between the two. Maybe that's what people want to hear. In any case, here goes.
Initially I though S&G looked kinda yummy with that green looking color and all.
Of course, I opened the bottle to get a whiff (yes Stece, I used the wafting motion and didn't directly sniff it
). It didn't have the smell I expected. It was more of a citrus scent, and not very overpowering at all. Actually, I thought the scent to be sort of weak compared to the Detail Spray which is a bit strong. Scent is not important however. So I put it on the shelf and had visions and dreams dancing in my head about when I'd get a chance to use it.
On Saturday I got a chance to do a routine wash on my truck. I used the Bug Squash with pretty good results, so I am getting hyped about using this new green stuff. Wash the truck, flood it down for final rinse, get my Big Blue drying MF (PAC) and my S&G. Spray the S&G on each panel as I'm drying. Finish the drying/S&G'ing and stand back and look at my work. I was pleasantly surprised (again). It left a nice glossy look to the white paint - as if I had just put on a coat of wax.
It looked really good. So, a side by side comparison of S&G to Detail Spray would go something like this (keep in mind I have only used S&G on this one occasion versus Detail Spray regularly):
Product Appearance - Both are tied. They both have a catchy color. Both are in the same style bottle. DS gets the nod for catchy labeling (enthusiast detailer) while S&G looks more like something a professional detailer would use with the white labeling.
Aroma - S&G has a nice clean citrus scent that's not overwhelming. DS has more of a "candy" scent, and it's strong. Not so strong that I don't like it, but strong enough for others to notice. I don't think you'll get that with S&G.
Use - Both are used in the same manner, at least by me. Dead even.
Appearance (on the vehicle) - S&G has a more "clean" look, while DS is a little more "shiny." Depends on what look you're after I suppose.
Slickness - DS is more slick than S&G, at least in my limited experience. This might change if I use S&G as a stand alone QD instead of using it after the wash/during the drying.
Overall, I really like S&G and will probably continue using it along with DS. They're both very good QD's. I have the problem most everyone else has....I have too much stuff to use and too little time to try them all out!!! HA! :lol
